Im interested in what you guys have used for sound and heat barriers in these truck? I have looked at dynamat and such, also spray on materials like Lizard skin. what have any of you used with good results? thanks

I haven't done my truck yet but I have a C5 corvette and they are very loud inside the passangers compartment and I have done alot of sound deadening in it. If you mainley just want to control the heat and knock the noise down some go to Lowes and buy some Frost King Duct Insuation. It will block the heat and dampen the sound some. It’s self adheasive and cheap.

However, if you’re searous about dampening the noise inside the cab you will need to address the two soruses of sound. Sound inside the cab comes for two sources it is generated by the vibrations of the sheat metal of the truck it’s self. This can be minimized by adding mass to the sheet metal, manufactures use an asphault based product, this is what you see stuck to the floor of a lot of cars, it’s cheap but not very efficent. This vibration dampaner comes as a paint on product or mats like Dynamat. I used a paint on product called Edead V3 from www.edesignaudio.com it worked very well and it will stick to just about anything. The next step in dampening sound is to adsorb soud vibrations that are transferred into the cab from outside, like engine or exhaust noise. This is done using a closed cell foam like Luxary Liner from www.secondskinaudio.com. This is what I used in my Vette. I would have to say that of the total noise reduction I achevied, 70% was from the vibration dampaner and 30% from the foam. www.b-quiet.com is another source of information and supplies.

Peel-N-Seal from your local home center...relatively inexpensive...6" rolls are very manageable...readily available...sticks to virtually any surface...odorless...reduces "tinny" sounds...reduces thermal transfer...easily applied by do-it-yourselfer.

Just a thought, a friend just had the bed in his new truck sprayed with Rhino liner, nice uniform coverage, about 3/16th to 1/4 thick.
Anyone ever used this approach to sound deadening ?

I used "Fat Mat" from some site on the internet. its a hellofa lot cheaper than dynamat and it did a real nice job. and i think it smells great when you're peeling and sticking it on. Smells like Asphalt.

i think i got 25sqft for $40.

I purchased the Lizard Skin product and hopefully sometime this summer ill get to laying it down. Ill let you know how it goes down. I'm doing both the sound and insulation. I won't be able to tell you much about how well it works with heat as mine wont be seeing the sun for quite some time it is a slow build

Home Center? As in Home Depot and the likes? I am planning on keeping my 66 running thru the winter and I need to do this a.s.a.p. before it starts to get wet and cold here in the NW. Would Rhino liner or some other runbberized undercoat stick to it after it has been stuck down (the peel-n-seal I mean).

Yes he means a Home Depot or Lowe's etc... If you do the interior of your truck with this sort of product I can't see using Rhino Liner over top of it.

Once you install carpet and your seat you would be good to go.

After I posted, I have been looking at numerous vids and posts on it. Looks like the real deal. The cab of the 64 is pretty solid, but i'd like it sealed alot better. especially behind the seat and tank. Going to Home Depot when i get the Uncle sam raped paycheck tomorrow. Lol. :metal:
