CCT project '79 C10 concealed weapons
5 Attachment(s)
While I was still editor at CCT, Jeff Drew at 73-87.com sent me a pair of his super clean 6x9 speaker brackets. The intent was to run a product release, but it didn't happen. Now that I'm a freelance tech editor working on CCT and CT, I've been able to do more of the things that I'd like to do. That said, here's a peek at what's coming in the August '10 issue of CCT. The sound system in my '79 C10 some of you might recognize as the Americruise truck is completely invisible (except for a K-mart head unit no one would want to steal) I dropped a pair of Powerbass 6x9s behind the crossflow vents in the door, and used Jeff's speaker brackets in the cab corners. Not shown is a Powerbass super thin 12-inch sub cabinet that fits tight behind the seat.
Anyone wants to hear more, I'll expand |
Re: CCT project '79 C10 concealed weapons
Oops, I forgot to mention I found a product called Boom Mats that really compliment Jeff's brackets. At the same time I was in the doors, I did new weatherstrip and seals, and power windows all this was from Brothers, and will appear in the July issue of CCT.
I'm sure I forgot something, but I've got to let the dog out, I'll talk to you later. |
Re: CCT project '79 C10 concealed weapons
Ok, I'll be the one to sound dumb here .... I assume CCT is a magazine but what magazine is it?

Re: CCT project '79 C10 concealed weapons
Sorry, I'm kind of lazy its short for Custom Classic Trucks. CT is short for Classic Trucks, and C10 is short for bad ass trucks!

Re: CCT project '79 C10 concealed weapons
got any more details one the ones behind the vents in the door. also does it make the door harder to close since that vents it??

Re: CCT project '79 C10 concealed weapons
I think Jeff is going to become a busy man making those brackets once that issue hits..

Don't worry about speakers sealing up the doors, trust me it takes a lot to create a perfect seal in a '73-87 C10 door And yeah I hope this story moves some speaker brackets for Jeff, he did a good job designing them. |
Re: CCT project '79 C10 concealed weapons
John, that is awesome...and thanks for the tip on the boom mat...I am getting a pair for my 73!
Also, please PM me your address again, I misplaced it and still need to send you that cover we spoke about. Having newborn twins at home has kept me from my hobby and this site quite a bit lately, sorry for the delay. |
