Gauge Cluster Lighting Ground Wire
I took my gauge cluster out yet again to replace my bulbs with LEDs and it appears the ground off off one of the sockets was snapped. Is it just a normal ground??

pretty much...black wires in the harness are the grounds.

Re: Gauge Cluster Lighting Ground Wire
This one is connected to only one of the twist in sockets though. The wire has 4011 painted and marked on the side of it.

Re: Gauge Cluster Lighting Ground Wire
The other sockets may ground through the panel itself.
I don't know what would make it special, just like any other ground. Just put a new wire on it if it was working fine before like that. What broke it by the way? |
Re: Gauge Cluster Lighting Ground Wire
I don't know what broke it that's why I ask. I'm not positive it's a ground. It was very brittle and possibly broke when I pulled the cluster.

Re: Gauge Cluster Lighting Ground Wire
when I pulled out my cluster to change bulbs on the left hand side the was one that had a strange wire comming off it and when i was pulling it out it was connected to a rectangular tab on the left side bottom of the opening on the dash looked at the besel to see what it could of been for it looked to me to light up the lettering where the wiper switch was so from looking at it more it looked like a fiber optic line from the dash light to that only thing i could guess what it was for honestly i really don't know what it is for but i'm only guessing thats what it could be.....
