Mystery Transmission - Part II
I see the other thread got locked down, but wanted to make one additional technical comment:

Perhaps you simply mis-spoke, but 3rd gear is 1:1 and 4th gear is OD at .73:1. You can read about it here: http://www.customclassictrucks.com/t...ion/index.html K http://i1016.photobucket.com/albums/...k/100_8655.jpg |

BOTH GMCs. MY JOB WAS.. ANYTIME THAY HAD TROUBLE ASSEMBLING ANY PARTS, THEY WOULD BRING BOTH (OR ALL ILL FITTING) PARTS TO ME, & I WOULD INSPECT THEM & MAKE SURE THEY WERE IN TOLERANCE. 95% OF THE TIME IT WAS HUMAN ERROR. 99% OF THE EMPLOYEES HAD SUCH CRUMMY, I DON'T GIVE A SH!T ATTITUDES, THAT I WAS AMAZED THAT THEY WOOD COME OFF THE FINAL ASSY. LINE, START UP & DRIVE OFF. JOHN

Second shift layout inspector - so would that be the "Jig and Fixture" shop? Did you work with Amos Ponder or Bill Mecum? I haven't decided if it's a small world, or if it's just the circles we travel in... (lol) K |
