Uh just curious

Whats the deal with people giving their trucks names for one and giving their trucks girl names ?Sounds kinda strange to me

Re: Uh just curious

I HAVEN'T THOUGHT OF A NAME SUITABLE FOR MY 86 SHORTY, BUT THE THOUGHT HAS CROSSED MY MIND A FEW TIMES. I CALL IT GIRL SOMETIMES, BUT I GET TO THINKING THAT MAYBE IT SHOULD BE A GUYS NAME BECAUSE ITS A CHEVY C10 = SILVERADO AS OPPOSED TO GMC = SIERRA..... GET IT??

People name there trucks to make them more personal,The whole reason they are named after women is because they are unpredictable, just like a woman.

Although I don't call mine by a name, it does have one. She is known as Shy Ann.

Re: Uh just curious

I call mine "The Heap". I guess the truck is a "male", wouldn't be cool to refer to a female as "The Heap". LOL

Re: Uh just curious

I've had a lot of vehicles, but very few end up with a name and it's usually named by someone else. My neighbors named our Suburban "Lurch". Although I do have a Camaro that I named "The Coon" because it had raccoons living in it when I bought it.

Some of my vehicles get name and some don't. Just depends of if a name fits or not. My truck is called Rufus ... no real reason .. just fits.

I thought they were named after women because they are both alike....on a cold morning when you want them to turn over they won't...

It happens to more than just cars/trucks. I've heard people in the Navy refer to Naval ships as women, and in the movie "Titanic" The designer states, "I assure you, she can, and will sink" or something closely similar to that.

You can name your vehicle whatever you want, but, [it sounds creepy i know] if you have that special bond with your vehicle compared to the "it's just metal and rubber" people, you know what to name it when you get behind the wheel.

I have named all 5 vehicles i have owned. Mostly as a tradition, and some cases, like my old '82 C10, for the love and time i have put into it.

Meet the ladies.

Re: Uh just curious

I named my trucks for the most part.i've had 3 1978 chevy trucks the first one was nicknamed 'the booger' due to it being two tone dark green and one of the shades of green was literally the color of a booger a good friend of mine started calling it that one day and it stuck until i sold it.the 2 78's i have now are at least by me called orange crush and ol red.orange crush well because it's orange and ol red because its red and kinda reminds me of a truck owned by a grandpa in the deep south.there have been several other nicknames for orange crush such as the tinted tomato, clifford, the red truck even though its orange, the other truck, and a few others i dont recall.any of the 2nd set i listed for orange crush i dont like them so i dont use them ever.

Re: Uh just curious

...........if you have named your truck(s), make sure you call out the correct name when you're driving her.

Re: Uh just curious

people have been using female's names for ships and airplanes for decades, so it's only natural that cars and trucks were next ;)
