year changes on dash pads, which work??

Have a 79, an Im told the dashes change on the 81 and up years.

Will a newer style dash work, or should a hunt for a early one??

They will work. the area around the center speaker opening needs a little adjustment...

If you want it to fit correctly, go by the year break. 73-8 and 81-87. Note that the 81-87 continues to 91 for Blazers, and Burbs.
