Flare or not to flare...that is the question

4 Attachment(s)
So i have had my 1969 Chevy K20 for about 3 years now and have managed to keep it all in one piece and in good running order. The problem I am having is there are custom molded fender flares on all 4 wheel wells that probably looked great when they were brand new but are showing signs of age/rust/nastiness. The flares on the rear seem to be pulling away from the bed sides and the front fenders are just rotting out like a typical fender. So replacing the front fenders is easy (but costly) and replacing the rear bed sides is neither. So do I repair what I have and maintain the custom look or go back to stock? I am looking to go with a 2 tone flat paint scheme when finished (whenever that is). Just looking for some opinions from real truck guys who have seen nearly everything. Are they worth keeping?

I know some people will not agree with me, but I like them. A little more aggressive wheel and tire combo and that would look MEAN

Oddly, I agree. I like them.

they blend well i'd say keep them

i also think a new tire/rim combo could make them stand out more

I like them too. Wider, meaner tires would be just ticket i would think.

The front angle looks good. I'm not sure about the rear quarter angle though. I do agree that bigger tires would go well with the Flares.

Fix 'em and go with a more aggressive tire :metal:

Also, dont paint it two tone either. Going two tone with those flairs will make them stand out bigtime!

I don't mind them, but prefer the stock look. The nice thing about your truck though is not to many people have one that looks the same as that :metal:

If you keep the current wheel/tire then ditch the flares, if you lift it and put bigger wheel/tire then keep them. Normally I'm totally against flares, but I like how these blend into the body.
