700r4 leaking from yoke while jacked up or on a hill

i jus had my engine pulled and while the tans was jacked up it leaked out a bunch of trans fluid. the guy told me that it was leaking out of the yoke. he also told me that it wouldn't be a problem to just plug the hole in th yoke to keep it from leaking. anyone had this problem.

Thanks for the info. Mines a 400turbo but I've noticed when i have mine parked in the drive way ( whice is a pertty good hill) there would be trans fluid on the ground when i moved it. I'll check into the o'ring.

Most trannies that have been rebuilt no longer have that sleeve. Millions of trannies dont have the hole in yoke at all. I vote tack weld the hole shut and call it a day.

Is it a bolt-on yoke or a slip-yoke?

X2. Its few & far between I see a 700R4 with the sleeve intact.

Plugged mine about 2 years ago. No problems since.

I did the repair on my TH350c. It worked fine. I don't know if that applies to your TH350 or not, though.

Before that, I had just sprayed the hole with brake cleaner to clean it up and dabbed some RTV on it with the tip of a screwdriver. That worked, but it had to be replaced once a year or so.

I eventually had to buy a new yoke from a drivetrain shop. They sold me one with no hole, and said they weld up EVERY one they work on.

Its the same setup in a th350. Just plug the hole. A lot of yokes didnt even have the hole in the first place.

I could have sworn that I remember reading somewhere that the hold is needed for something but I cannot remember what. Obviously it is not needed for anything according to others, it would be cheaper and just as effective to just weld it up, so go for it.
