How should I run the exhaust?
This week, I want to flip the rear on my Silverado. The exhaust, the way it's routed, is going to be in the way. I really like the setup as it is. I like how they exit 90 degrees behind the tires.
I was thinking cutting out where it needs to be, and having an exhaust shop adapt piping again but higher up obviously. Also, I included a photo of the hangers used on the tailpipes. I wonder if I can move the exhaust up another few holes but I'm not sure if there is any flexibility? Also, I guess I could do away with all the tail pipes and just dump it after the mufflers. But, I really don't want to be smelling fumes and hearing drone. Also, I KNOW my frame is extremely rusty and thin. I am in the process of fixing that don't worry! Here are pics. What do you think? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...e/DSCF5720.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...e/DSCF5721.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...e/DSCF5722.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...e/DSCF5723.jpg |
Re: How should I run the exhaust?
If you just flip it there is room to run it over the axle, But if you C-notch and lay it... Not so much

Re: How should I run the exhaust?
I will be running a bolt in c notch.

That exhaust looks just about shot. Time for new pipes, rather that patching those ones;)

Even with a notch you have plenty of room to go over the axle housing. Mine has 3" exhaust all the way out, flip kit c notch and 1" lowering blocks, axle does not come close to hitting! Here are some so so pics of mine, before the blocks and shock extenders....Oh by the way, with only the flip kit, there is no need for the c notch, just cut off the factory bump stop brackets, there is plenty of suspension travel.

westofb nice setup! The kit came with bolt in notches. I'm running the flip as well as shackles in the 1'' drop hole for a 6'' total drop. I haul motorcycles and such so I'm going to add the notches. Down the road if I want to go lower, atleast they are installed. |
