Edelbrock 1406 Choke Question
 

I have an Edelbrock 1406 carb, and can't seem to get the choke quite right. Unless the engine is stone cold, it doesn't close all the way. However, if I adjust the choke in the closed direction, then it doesn't open all the way. I'm beginning to wonder if I have a spring problem. I do have full voltage to the hot terminal on the choke. Any ideas??

is it wired rto your fuse box? we have the same carb on dads mustang and it didnt have enough volts to work the choke so we wired it to fuse box and it fixed the problem

The choke plates may be hitting the carb body. you may have to do alittle grinding to get it to close right. That or its binding somewhere else.

The force of the coil spring is waht shuts the choke, the voltage wont have anything to do with it closing.

The choke shouldn't shut all the way unless the engine is cold and the outside temps are cold.

You can download the owners manual for that carb from Edelbrocks website. There's a procedure in there to set the opening and closing gap by bending the appropiate rod. Make sure the choke linkage is free and nothing is binding, including the fast idle cam.
