twopiece, I need to kow asap, so i can fix it

Why does my '76 GMC Sierra C-1500 have a two piece rear driveshaft ?

Do the trucks with two piece shaft use the 6" tail tranny(TH350), or use the 9" tail truck tranny ? ?

Can I replace the two piece with a one-piece shaft from a 78 C-10 with the same tranny, wheel base, and axle as the C-1500 ?

The 76 C-1500 two piece shaft broke at the rear yoke, so....

I appreciate anything !

Randy, it has something to do with the factory load capacity. Yes you can replace it with a one piece after removing the bearing support. My LWB one piecer has a 9" tail . the two piecers are much more forgiving to heavy loads and balance problems.DAVE
