years of oil and grime on stearing parts.

so I want to clean up the steering components on my truck they are cacked with years of road grime oil and other leaks. I have heard to use easy off oven cleaner then preassure washer. Any thoughts or ideas on that? Would it be safe to use with the bushings? If not im open to ideas thanks.

I just used kerosene to clean mine up. But I also replaced all the seals in it. It didn't seem to hurt the old seals but it did take the grime off of it.

Check out this thread as a lot of the things used to clean up a greasy motor will work on suspension parts...

I use the purple power cleaner and scrapers for this type of cleanup. Pressure washer would help alot also.

Re: years of oil and grime on stearing parts.

Ok I started today, I hit alot of it (when the motor was still in with inner fenders out and sprayed everything with gunk) with hot water pressure washer thing. (friends)

then drove home pulled motor

scraped with a putty knife, then scraped more and wire brushed on electric drill, no pics but its comming along

purple power and pressure washer would be nice though, after u spray purple power is that a good degreased surface to paitn over?

purple power for light duty, oven cleaner for heavy duty, PURPLE POWER TAKES SHINE OFF AND OVEN CLEANER TAKES PAINT OFF! It takes grease off too :)
