quick Blazer tank swap question

Are the 87 FI tanks the same as the 86 and older carb tanks with the exception of the baffles?

I'm thinking tank swap and I may or may not run a FI motor in the future. Was thinking of buying the 87 tank but installing an 86 style sending unit/fuel pickup. Want to make sure it will fit before I order.

Oh and another question about tank size.

Most people run 25 gallon tanks I assume, but will a 40 gallon tank fit a SWB?
