I Made an Offer Today !!!

5 Attachment(s)
I"ve always like the 1980 Burb ( and pickup) with the one year only square headlite. I found this Burb on line and made the owner an offer but he didn't take it and we are 500.00 apart. If it had buckets and rear barn doors the deal would be done.

Does anyone know if bucket seats and barns were available in the 1980 model year Burbs?

Wow! That truck is rediculous! Buckets and barn doors were available since '73. The doors are standard, I believe. Seems like the tailgate is an option.

That is a clean old truck. I always liked having the bench better, mostly because I never liked using a 3rd row, needed it for storage so more seating up front was a better option. Plus I've always liked the feel of those bench seats, call me old fashioned I guess. The tailgate was a more desirable option as well, mostly for the roll down glass (stick stuff out the tailgate if you were hauling long items, such as a set of running boards etc) and easier hauling. I always used my vehicle as a hauler though, mostly for parts. Also made it nicer going to the drive in to see a movie, could sit on the tailgate or lay down inside. Sure you could open barn doors at the drive in, but then you ate up more space with the doors swung wide open.

I'd buy that burb in a heart beat :)

Has that burb been kept in a time capsule? Although I'm not fond of the over color I kinda like the woody look.

Buckets were available for Burbs in 1980. I pulled the set up going into my shortie from a friend's 80' Silverado Burb

Ask him to meet you in the middle and go get that thing. I'll bet you will be hard pressed to find another 80 that clean. Especially with the woodgrain package

That would look soooo cool laid out on big rims.:metal:

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. That truck is so clean for an '80 model I don't know that I'd let $500 keep me from taking it home unless his price was unreasonable. That truck is insanely clean - we spend so much money after the purchase making them just right that it's easy to overlook how much money you save paying a little more upfront.

The reason we are 500.00 apart is that the owner apparently had an offer from someone else and that person is supposed to come get it tomorrow
(and he has no deposit) the 15th. The owner said if I got there first with that same amount I could have the Burb. I told him my offer stands and he said that if the other person didn't show on the 15th. then I could have it for my offer, which is why I say we are 500 apart. I'll keep ya posted and let you know if/when I get it.

I don't think this owner was trying to scam me to get the price up as he has been trying to sell the Burb for awhile. I emailed him and asked if he knew the history of the Burb and he said he bought used at a Calgary dealer in 1981/82 and has all the receipts for what he's done to it over the years. I guess I'll find out in the next day or two if I'll get it.

Aaah, c'mon don't be a hater..;)

I am impressed with how clean it appears for an 80 model. Add to it that it's lived in Canada and it's not rusted out is freakin amazing. Lets hope you get the deal.
