I don't think you can remove the factory tint. You will probably have to use untinted replacement glass. JUst add some more tint so you don't have to see that green tint.

You cannot remove factory tint from a window. The tinted film is part of the saftey feature in windshields. ALL windshields are 2 pieces of glass with a film of plastic sandwiched in between, they just tint the film. It is what keeps the glass together and not bust out into pieces when impacted.
If you don't want it, you will have to replace the glass. ------------------ Chris Lucas 1973 Chevy C-10 1975 Chevy Silverado Captkaos' Page |
its not the windsheild i want to change its the back side windows. they have a kinda brownish tint that i want to replace so that all the windows except the windsheild have the same tint....

if that is the film type ,which is waht it sounds like than you can peel it off. that usually leaves the glue residue on the glass. the best way that I have found is to peel and work under the edge of it at the same time with a glass scraper [widget] the type that uses a single edge razor.whatever is left can be "dissolved " off with a thinner.then clean the film with with windex.

All the windows except the windshield on all recent American built vehicles are tempered glass. That is to say they are heat treated so they shatter. The windshield is laminated meaning it has the thin layer of plastic between two layers of glass. The only way to remove the tint would be to change the glass. Now I know there are door glass and tailgate glass available without tint, but finding the rear side windows is going to be next to impossible. For the others try some from an older Blazer or truck without AC and before about 78. Almost all Blazers had tinted glass after that. For the big side windows, you will have to get a glass shop to cut you new windows. They can cut them from laminated glass for a fairly reasonable cost, or cut them and send them away for tempering for a bit more money. Tempered glass is probably better for this application.
