rear seats
Is the 2nd row seat the same as the 3rd row seat?
I just got a 72 suburban and it only has the 2nd row seat. |
Re: rear seats
I don't have a ton of experience here, but on my '72 the 2nd row is narrower to allow access to the wider, full width 3rd row.

Re: rear seats
Its the same seat, but has different mounts due to the offset of the floor

Re: rear seats
mine has a full width 2nd row seat since it did not come with 3rd row. The 2nd row is narrower when equiped with 3trd row. The 3rd row must be narrow enough to fit between the wheel housings.

Re: rear seats
JWILL41 and I must have been typing at the same time! 2nd row is wider on 2 seaters, no pass by needed. #2 and #3 are the same width on 3 seaters with different brackets like oldblue said (#2 narrower to allow pass by, #3 narrower to fit between the wheel wells). On 3 seaters #2 only has the armrest against the wall to allow easy access and #3 has both armrests. There are some great diagrams from the factory literature on this. I'll see if I can pull them up to post. Sharpie

My kids constantly complain about EVERYTHING............. I mean, having to climb over the arm rest on the end of the second row. Thanks for the info |
Re: rear seats
I ran the vin tonight and my suburban was originally a 3/4 ton. In 72 was 3 rows offered on a 3/4 ton? I thought I read somewhere that it wasn't.....yet my 2nd row seat is narrow.

Re: rear seats
Hi Mulk, interesting about the armrest, you just never know.
Ackattack, I'm sure it was possible to get 3 seats on a 72 3/4 ton. I've had 2 72 3/4's with 3 seats although they were 4x4's. Have you checked the underside in the third seat area to see if there is a cross support for bolting the 3rd seat? Are the holes in the floor for it? Sharpie |
Re: rear seats
You won't need to worry about the third row when we tahoetize it ;)

Re: rear seats
My 68 K20 came with 3 rows of seats, and the back two have arm rests.
The second seat is the same width as the third row seat, but s mentioned before; the seat to floor mounts are different. |
