Good Morning guys, Question re: lowering kits on an '87 sb

Looking at a site called Sport Truck Direct and the lowering kits they have available for the '87. Has anyone here delt with them before? Any comments about their quality and fitment? Im looking to do a 4.5"-6" drop. Cant afford air ride. Im looking at a 2.5" drop spindle, 1.5" coil and shackle kit for the rear. There seems to be multiple options in terms of springs, and a replacement leafspring setup or a flip kit for the rear. Any and all recommendations are welcome. TIA

Western Chassis have fine components, but Sport Truck Direct has poor customer service.

I agree with the quality of the Doestech shocks...they are horrible. Get some Bell Techs, you'll be much happier.

When I was getting ready to order my parts, I emailed them 3 times over a period of about a month using the contact info on their website. They never replied. I bought my parts from another company as a result.

I bought Western Chassis parts, and have had no problems with them.

Ive found wc parts on other sites, but not anywhere near the selection as Sport Truck Direct. Im hoping when I pull the trigger on this, I dont get any bad experiences.

I bought mine from www.performancesuspension.com about 5 years ago. I had zero problems with them, and they actually talked to me on the phone and made recommendations. A lot could have changed in that amount of time, though...

I have had good luck with them, and with Western Chassis components. I bought mine from CPP, though. Jeff will cut you a pretty sweet deal. You might give hm a call.

Did you change your tires man? I had written your tire size from a previous thread and thought you had 295/45/20 rear and 245/45/20 front. Just want to be sure because I want to go with the same setup you have. I love your truck. I have a 5/7 WS drop kit sitting at the house waiting on me as well. Just out of curiosity, How much room do you have between the top of your front tire and the top of the inner fender? Thanks man

Re: Good Morning guys, Question re: lowering kits on an '87 sb

Keep an eye out in project builds. I am in the process of installing my Western Chassis 4/6. Will be installing the rear lowering components tomorrow. Of course I fell for the highly praised Doetsch shocks by Sport Truck Direct and as a result from what I read here..... I will basically have the ride quality of a cement truck. O well

But yes, Sport Truck Direct shipping is expensive, but so far their customer service has seemed fine. They notified me that the front springs were on back order but not a problem since I am working on the rear.

I would go 4/6. You get the bolt in notch with hardware. You then have the option of going lower in the future if need be. I was going to just go 2/4 but realized it's too much work for just a 4'' drop. 4/6 should be pretty daily driver friendly as well as still being able to use your truck as a truck since you get the c-notch.

I ordered mine from sport truck direct and had an excellent experience. The guys I have talked to have been extremely helpfull. The parts have all come seperate because everything wasn't ready to go. I got the coils and air bags/compressor first. Then recieved the spindles a few days later. Still waiting on the flip kit, shackles and notch but they let me know they were @ powder coat and should ship soon.

I can't remember who I bought my stuff from (it was 15 years ago) but the ride is great, especially for a 6/8 drop. Might have been Sport Truck Direct, kinda rings a bell. I just know a low & level '87 can't be beat.
