Bit of an interior change
5 Attachment(s)
Well my kids have been arguing about rides in Vanessa ( my daughter named her) and since I could only take two people I decided to change to a bench seat. I found one on Kijiji for $50 out of a 89 chevy 1/2 ton in good shape and started from there.
The orignal seats were ok but I thought I could brighten up the inside a bit. Attachment 598097 My friend Jody at Kustomline Trim Designs did the work on the seat side panels visors and ceiling change. Attachment 598098 I removed all the old seat parts which included stacks of washers and various plumbing parts to try to level out the seats. The drivers seat foam was starting to break down and I was getting a numb leg after a short drive. Attachment 598099 I put down some extra insulation as well as piece of carpet for behind the seat. Attachment 598100 I ordered seat belts from www.seatbelt planet.com in a yellow. This was a set of three point retractables and a lap belt with the old style lift latches. I did not think it was worth my while to run around the junk yard searching for a set. The belts were $65 for the 3 points and $16 for the lap belt. I made up a mount for the shoulder belt out of a piece of steel with a nut welded to it. Also a hole was drilled for a rivet to hold it in incase I wanted to remove it. Attachment 598101 |

The truck feel different to drive even with the shoulder strap
sitting on your shoulder. The mount cover can be ordered in different colors and I'm thinking about going to a tan carpet so I went with tan covers. Attachment 598104 Seat in now waiting for the headliner and door panels. Attachment 598105 Didn't take him long to get at the rest of my stuff. Attachment 598106 Just a bit of change with the look of the inside don't you think? Attachment 598107 |

Very nice, I love it. It's about what I plan on doing to mine except mine will be blue instead of yellow. Mine will definitely have the wide whites too.

Love it! The new interior really goes well with the look of the rest of the truck, you must be very happy.

Re: Bit of an interior change
That looks teriffic! Are you happy with the quality of the seat belts as far as fit and comfort?
|
Re: Bit of an interior change
I'm quite happy with the seat belts. I emailed back and forth a couple of times then called. Talked to Steve and placed my order. The color worked out great. It feels more secure driving with the shoulder belt on. I would recomend them.

Re: Bit of an interior change
Can you provide more detail on the 3 point belt and the mounting of the shoulder belt? There's more to it than the rivet I assume.
