I am so confused about what year my truck is!

Some people said its a 1970 and by what im finding on the VIN its a 71!

Help

Re: What year?

Matt the 1 on your vin means it was built in oshawa. The z means it is a 1970. Heres a link so you can see for yourself. Make sure you use the decoder for a 70 to 71 gmc. http://outintheshop.com/vin_decode.html The first 1 in your vin is for 1/2 ton.

Re: What year?

It is vital to remember that GMC and CHEVY vins decode differently for these years. Do not use Chevy vin decoding. On the link above make sure you are looking at the GMC VINS

Re: What year?

I just went to the site and used the same LMC decoder in their online catalog, and according to that, the Z in your VIN designates it is a 1970 model. So I would say yes, it is definitely a 1970.
