cummins
A friend of mine just picked up a dodge pick up, old squarish body...90?, the truck is beat to death but the cummins turbo engine and the manual tranny is super! Man! that would be so much fun in one of our trucks...like a dually or the like..he's selling but alas, no funds or time for me...

Re: cummins
It would be nice if it was a 91.5-93. They are intercooled.

Re: cummins
I've got a 94 Dodge with a Cummins. Whenever I have it together and running (almost never) it's an animal. Definitely awesome engines. Trannies, not so much.

Re: cummins
I have one in my crew and I love it. It really made a truck outta it, 20mpg and being able to pull whatever I hook to it. Just wish I didnt hit that deer back in october and had more funds to finish redoin the truck...

Re: cummins
If you look at my pictures in my link in sig. Its taking so much longer and more money because Ive converted it to 4x4, gettin rid of the rust on the rockers, cab corners, and doors, changing my interior, and I went a different route with the bed, I was going to redo the original dually bed but the big thing I miss about my old truck was the extra space on my flatbed, so I'm going to find, or most likey build a flatbed to suit the truck and my style.

Re: cummins
How big of injectors, hole size? And did you have the stall speed changed in the TC? What size exhaust housing? You should be able to spool a 71mm single easily with everything you have done. It will be laggy as you know already, but should light at atleast 2300rpm's I'm guessing with a .90.

Re: cummins
I don't recall the stall speed. I had Stefan send me the triple disc and flex plate while I had the engine torn down. I'd have to do some digging to see if I still have all the messages from Chris at E.D. about the exhaust housing. I've been told the cam is way too big for what I used the truck for (occasional street use). The injectors are probably too big as well. But I had some 6x.018 in there prior to the 10 holers. The 10 holers run better. When I get interested in it again I'll pull the cam out, pull the 13mm pump off and the 10-hole injectors and see about a Hamilton drop-in cam, or maybe a COMP461 deal. Then put in a worked 215 pump and maybe some DDP4 or so injectors. It should run decent then. I went way too crazy with what I have.

Re: cummins
We have a couple of Hogue cams running and they seem to work pretty well. Getting them degreed in to where they run the best is the key. we had the first one torn apart a couple times until we got it where we liked it.

Re: cummins
Judging by your sig, I take it you like Cummins over Powerstrokes and Duramax?
|
Re: cummins
Yeah, maybe a little. I work on them all and just have been messing with cummins the longest. We have one 7.3 PSD and one IDI left. The vette almost got a 6.0 at one point. I'm glad I woke up!

Re: cummins
I had a 07 Dodge Doolie for a while, but when my 12 valve was back in action I got rid of the doolie. Since then I bet I've put maybe 1500 miles on the 12 valve. It's been apart for the majority of the last 2 years.

Re: cummins
Corvette with a diesel? that sounds sweet! I'm a ford tech and I agree on the 6.0 being a mistake. I always wanted a mustang to put a 4bt in.
|
Re: cummins
I always thought a CJ2A with a 4BT would be da shizz-nizzle.
