Cherry bomb extremes

Hey guys im wanting to put a new exhaust on my truck, Im leaning towards the cherry bomb extremes. I wanna put an x-pipe and dual cherry bombs single inlet and single outlet. Now my question is it better to get 2.5'' or 3'' . Im running a 350 bored 30, edelbrock intake and carb. Im not sure if i should run headers or not. I dont want it to sound all redneck. What cha think?

Re: Cherry bomb extremes

the only cherry bombs that sound redneck are the glasspacks.
i've been wondering about the extremes myself. i like my flowmaster knock offs but i want a little louder muffler.

Re: Cherry bomb extremes

haha which ones?
I've got some flowsounds, i thought they were a 40 series knock off, but they seem to be a 50 series knock off.

redneck my a$$ more muscle and great sounding to me. A mild 350 long tubes, gutted cats, 2.5's all the way dual cherry bomb extremes. Now cherry bomb glasspacks, yea that could be redneck, burt cherry bombs, and cherry bomb extremes are completely different.

Re: Cherry bomb extremes

Since he plans on running an x-pipe, it should help clear up the "redneck" sound you are referring to.

Re: Cherry bomb extremes

its not redneck at all...the extreme sounds just like a flowmaster 10 series

Re: Cherry bomb extremes

EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

redneck= glasspacks and cherry bomb extremes are NOT GLASSPACKS!!!!! they are chambered mufflers and sound identical to the flow 40 we took of the truck in the video I posted. If yall listen to the video in the link I bet you see it aint glasspackd redneck junk, it's just like flowmasters.

Re: Cherry bomb extremes

Ya, I've had glass packs on my 4x4 and WOW to loud. I've been lurking around on you tube and theirs alot of trucks with the extremes and they sound almost as good if not as good as the flowmasters. I currently have a flowmaster on their rite now but, the P.O. did such a ghetto job of welding it, it looks like chicken crap. lol. The extremes sound good for the money as times are hard.

Re: Cherry bomb extremes

definately, you can buy cbe's for the price of one flow. I paid like $51 each for mine thru jegs.

Hey Rollinsqrbdy,,,, i just noticed you are just down the road and a good stone's throw from Artesia. small world,,
Guess I don't know what a redneck truck is supposed to sound like???? I always thought straight pipes with the really loud BRASH, irritating sound was getting close but you never know these days. Now, as far as cherry bombs, there is that really great, throaty, mellow sound as long as you use true dual exhaust all the way from engine to tips,,,,with NO "X" pipe. The "x" pipe will smooth out the pulsation harmonics of opposing cylinders firing and it actually decreases the overall sound level,,,,,and the "X" pipe WILL give you a slight HP increase. Headers are good for increased performance and they also help give you that powerful engine sound. what are the cherry bomb extremes?

Re: Cherry bomb extremes

they are chambered mufflers, not a glasspack, just a short oval case like a flowmaster, the length of the 10 series race mufflers, they have an angle shaped metal wing inside of them to deflect the sound waves instead of a v shaped wing baffle like the flowmasters. IMO they sound pretty much the same as any flowmaster, the ones we got sound almost the exact same except maybe a tad louder then the single in dual out flow 40 we had, but then again we have 2.5 duals now, was 3 inch single, long tube/full length headers now, was manifolds, gutted cats now, was no cat, same tips as before. Plus it had a stock 305 then and has a mild built 350 now.

Re: Cherry bomb extremes

What kind of exhaust would you say that one has?

Chionos GMs 06-25-2010 01:24 AM

Re: Cherry bomb extremes

Glasspacks or wide open exhaust

Re: Cherry bomb extremes

glass packs sound ok thats what i got on my car, there realy loud they got like and 8 inch case length...yea troopers are gonna love me when i get it on the road. but i would say turbo mufflers with headers also realy realy sound good and there realy cheap i got summit racing turbo mufflers and my old 350 sounds perty toough shed sound even better with headers, so thats another option.

also (this is just a little side note) somthing ive noticed flow masters can kinda cover up the lope of a cam

Re: Cherry bomb extremes

my bro has factory manifolds on a somewhat stock 350 tbi, exhaust meets into one pipe then a high flow cat, (its a 1990, needs a cat) then a few feet of pipe then one single cherry bomb extreme into a 4 inch tip out the side before the right rear. sounds mean, im sure you could get away with plenty of different setups with the extremes and it wouldnt sound redneck.

Re: Cherry bomb extremes

OMG let's put it this way does anyone here think a flowmaster or magnaflow sounds redneck? I'd bet not, ppl cherry bomb extremes are nothing like redneck stuff, they are NOT a glasspack.

To me straight pipes or glasspacks are redneck, that would include bullets, spiral flows and red hots, purple hornies, old style cherry bomb GLASSPACKS.

cherry bomb EXTREMES, flowmaster, magnaflow, thrush chambered, hooker aero chamber, edelbrock sdt, summit "race" chambered mufflers, all the same, no packing, winged baffle only, deep sound.

X2, I agree. Redneck? Who really gives a rats a$$, it's your truck do what you like. On my truck (basically stock 454 with long tube headers, cam, high rise and edelbrock carb) I went with 3" duals all the out rear, no "x" pipe, and a set of Summit 3" in and out race mufflers. I think they were like $30 each, the exhaust sounds deep and throaty, but maybe a little on the loud side (I am really glad they don't dump under the truck!).

Re: Cherry bomb extremes

Man you're kidding right? the summit race mufflers loud? Man I got screwed I got a set, put em on my monte carlo to replace the glasspacks and they sucked, they were way too quiet, and now I got them on my truck and it's louder, but still quiet, esp. compared to the video of my dad's 84 with cherry bomb extremes.

I wished my summit mufflers were louder.

I totally agree. I like that deep throaty, muscle car sound. So whats better though, 2.5'' or 3'' inlet and outlet?
