Please, for $30 000 I could build a heck of a lot better truck than that! And it wouldn't need an interior and mechanical work lol

You gotta have the wording to make it all fall in to place.

Quote:

1978 Chevrolet Silverado K10
400 SBC w/ THM350 (needs front pump seal)
Full Time 4X4
Nearly new Cooper Discoverer Radial LT Tires

This truck was custom ordered from the factory in 1977 and delivered in July of 1978. I bought it from the original owner seven years ago, had it repainted four years ago, had the transmission and engine completely rebuilt 3 years ago, and I was having the interior redone when the man working on it passed away. The engine is still "Corporate Blue", but it does need some cleaning. The paint is closer to factory than most factory paint jobs, and I have all of the original trim excluding one of the interior Silverado Custom door bezels. Unfortunately, I had to leave after the rebuild, and it wound up sitting for two years with brand new tires and less than 100 miles on the rebuild. I have gone over it with a fine toothed comb for the last two months and replaced all defections. I put a Tomco remanned Rochester Equipped Quadrajet Carburetor, though I did hold onto the original in hopes of rebuilding it through Year-One to keep the truck original. In the last month, it has gotten a brand new starter, the aforementioned Q-Jet carb, a new Wix fuel filter and air filter, oil change w/ a K&N oil filter and Valvoline Synpower 10-30, an Optima Redtop battery, and a brand new Airtex (by Federal Mogul, not Carter) fuel pump. The only aftermarket mods I have made include a new hood (you'll see why in the pics), a GM approved heavier duty tailgate, bucket seats, chrome bed caps, beauty rings, a billet aluminum grill, and a red and black bowtie hold down for the breather.

The only cons are that the interior never got finished (though I still have all but one piece of the trim) which means it needs a headliner and carpet, the tranny needs a new front pump seal, the hood need sto be reinforced on the driver side hinge, and the paint has a few minor (seriously, minor) scratches. More pictures available upon request. Original asking price was $30,000 (before interior and tranny). Not making a profit unless you count the $80 I rounded up. I'm just a collector trying to pass on my crown jewel to another collector. I will only sell to someone who will uphold the integrity of a truly beautiful GM masterpiece.

I was thinking to sell my 80 for 5000 bucks but I thought it was too pricey ...

Re: Ebay truck.....A little pricey ! ! !

Thanks guys. I love how he goes on about all the stuff he did to keep it GM original but doesn't seem to mind that he put aftermarket stuff on it. Especially that ugly hood. Either the truck is original or it's not, and this is a not.

Oh and how can the paint be closer to factory than a factory paint job??

I was wondering the same thing..

Re: Ebay truck.....A little pricey ! ! !

Factory paint means a few dry spots, some orange peel, dirt and a few small runs here and there. I've actually heard of people making sure a run was replaced upon a repaint on a classic.
I've owned lots of new cars and trucks and have yet to get one with a 'perfect' paint job. I've actually walked people on to the new car lot to show them this sort of stuff, when they complain about our repair having a piece of dirt in it or something trivial.

/end rant

Re: Ebay truck.....A little pricey ! ! !

I think S10Fan hit the nail on the head. For that much money, the truck needs to be pristine & poop gold. Not some interior stuff here & there, leaking seal, etc etc. The guy is on crack or has been exposed by S10Fan.
