Re: kustom center console
That's pretty sweet! Only thing I feel is radio wouldbe heck to reach from the drivers seat, but I like it!

Re: kustom center console
i got a remote to solve that prob lol

Re: kustom center console
would you mind posting the measurements on that you did a hell of a job.

Re: kustom center console
I think we should all be doing something like this so we have a place to put the aftermarket radios without hacking up the instrument panel. I have seen custom consoles like this with the upper front portion a little higher (actually rising above the bottom of the dash, about next to where the original radio location would be) and angled up and toward the driver a little for easier access. Also have seen the radio mounted vertically, pointed up toward the roof, next to the driver, but I didn't care for that much. This looks like a good plan. The radios in a headliner shelf look handy also, but a little too much like 10-4 rubber ducky CB radio for me.

Re: kustom center console
nice to see I'm not the only one building stuff from cardboard and duct tape...lol...check my build I did a center consol put my amp and a 10" sub in it along with the radio and the controls for my air ride...I used a radio delete panel and put my 2 air ride guages into it which is nice since I didn't cut te dash at all....

Re: kustom center console
hottrucks i like yours too if i kept my buckets i would of added in my 12 and amp but got two kids so the buckets went for a bench when the get older i might go back and as far a mesurements wigglestheholly what do you want overall or specifics just let me know
|
Re: kustom center console
I know what you mean if you look at my early build pics I had the stock bench and built a short consol the was even with the top of the seat...I used that consol for a template to make it longer when I switched to buckets..( Dumb Move I like the bench better)

Re: kustom center console
That is totally cool. However, what i'm mainly concerned about, since i have been searching for a way to mount gauges w/out any drilling, is how would you secure this console?

Re: kustom center console
Both my consoles follow the trans hump and is kinda wedged under the dash they are pretty tight fit too...
|
Re: kustom center console
Looks good. Hope your little one doesnt kick the faceplate off that head unit though.
|
Re: kustom center console
as far as hold down when i figure out what the final covering is going to be im going to use some l brakets and screw them to the trans tunnel for now its wedged in ther pretty good and both kids arnt big enough to reach it yet

Re: kustom center console
you seem to have the glass thing down...I would run a router around the edges and glass it all..then paint it or take it to a local boat shop and have them gel coat it any color you want..a couple pieces of carpet along the bottom wil take care of the kick marks you can get a piece of carpet and have it seamed cheap at most carpet places

Re: kustom center console
Looks great! Definitely be sure to bolt it down though... I found out what a wooden console with sharp edges does when you roll your truck and its not bolted down very well... I had a couple a punctures to the bone from the sharp edges on the box. They never did find the console though.....

Re: kustom center console
I like it!. It reminds me of a vega that was covered in carpet.

Re: kustom center console
Question? Is your lower vent still free flowing or is it now obstructed with your console?
Looks good! |
Re: kustom center console
no its not blocked

Re: kustom center console
what I did was cut a piece of the aluminum flexable tubing on the side so it fits over the stock heater ports and ran the 2 opens ends out a cut out near the front to blow on your feet..works well ..just need to notch out for the piping
look at pic # 15 on this post you can see it on the pass side I have since squirted it with some black paint so you dont see it as badly http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...51#post3800951 |
Re: kustom center console
looks nice
we did a console for amps and radio & tv. We held it down with two angle brackets on each side. We also added two computer fans to keep the amps cool. Covered it with vinyl. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=320658&page=3 Don't mean to hijack your thread. |
