4 Attachment(s)
Hi, I want some help with my jimmy tranny, I want to confirm the trasmission parts models in my jimmy, here are some pics:
please correct me if I'm wrong Attachment 604993 Dana44 Attachment 604994 NP205 Attachment 604995 SM426 Attachment 604996 Umknown rear axle The rear axle, is not the original, can somebody identify this part?, wich axle I need to buy in order to use the 4x4 option in my jimmy? PS: in other way, what mean married or divorcied transmission...=? |
Re: some help with my jimmy transmission...
That rear axle looks like a earlier Ford 9" or possibly a Mopar 8.75".
Your transmission should be a SM465 and your transfer case is indeed a NP205. Married transfercases mean it attaches via adapter directly to the transmission. Divorced means there would be a short driveshaft between the output yoke on the transmission and the input yoke on the transfercase. A married setup is stronger. |
Re: some help with my jimmy transmission...
Isn't that the muncie SM465?

Yup, sure is. I had too many things going and typed the wrong thing. |
Re: some help with my jimmy transmission...
Of US rears, Mopar, Olds/Pontiac (till 64), and Ford (till 56) had round center sections and no removable cover. I think maybe Cadillac and Packard too. All except the Mopar are too scarce to consider seriously.
However, considering where the OP is located, I think he is more likely looking at a Nissan or Toyota rear. Ray |

Doubt it is a Toyota rear with that much width and beef. Also, if it had come from a Land Cruiser it would have a passenger side offset to the pumpkin and a bolt on cover similar to the Eaton. Nissan Patrol could be a real possibilty. Not likely to be a rover though. |
Re: some help with my jimmy transmission...
Did you drag that out of three feet of dirt?

Re: some help with my jimmy transmission...
The more I look at it, the more it looks like an old Mopar 8.75 axle.
The snout on the center section, the welds and the fill plug look Mopar to me. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_5wtf5BICBh...0/DSC06273.JPG |
Re: some help with my jimmy transmission...
I agree, it does look like a Mopar, but I just wasn't expecting to see one in Peru. The Nissan or Toyota rears I was thinking about are from the 2WD trucks, not 4WD. They have round welded covers.
How about giving us a little bit of help, like what is the wheel bolt pattern? Or maybe just a pic of the axle end with the hubcap off? Ray |
Re: some help with my jimmy transmission...
What lug pattern is on those axles? I suspect that front and rear both came from a different truck. Probably a Dodge. Is it five lug?
