Year compatibility for doors....
I'm sure I'm not the first to ask this, but I can't seem to find it on a site search.
What are the differences between the doors for the various years? I know the 1972 model has the additional screw and dimple below the wing windows, but is that the only difference? Are all the panels compatible? |
Re: Year compatibility for doors....
'72 door handle hardware and window regulator are different for the thicker '72 door panels. I believe '67 exterior door handles are slightly different in how they mount to the doors then the other years. The '67-'71 door panels are basically all the same.

Re: Year compatibility for doors....
So if I'm using the hardware from my 72 doors, and the shells from say a 69 everything would match up and the Super Cheyenne panels would fit?

Re: Year compatibility for doors....
The way the '72 panels attach to the doors is different then the earlier models. I don't remember the exact difference though, I haven't had my '72 in quite a while. Someone who knows for sure will chime in I'm sure.

Hi Clayton,
Yes, I'm pretty sure you could drill the earlier year doors to accept the 72 panels. The 67-71 panels attach with screws. While the 72 panels attach with plastic fasteners that simply push into round holes drilled in the door. |
