awesome! by the condition of the gages, glove box sticker I would say it may be original miles although the chrome trim on the doors is missing, never seen one without that trim..pics under the hood would reveal more

Odometer numbers line up? You mean you guys can't roll one of these old schools back and not keep the numbers straight? ;)

Yep - the missing chrome trim and the paint scheme lead me to believe it's had some paint work done (ie, should be blue on the bottom of the doors and rocker area).

From the factory, some trucks DIDN'T have that lower trim (Frank on here had one, tan truck)...although all the ones I have seen were single color trucks, not 2 tone.

or it will never move off 000000 lol

Agreed. The two tone would have forced the complete trim and primary color along the rockers.

I may have mentioned this previously but the way these trucks were painted, the secondary (inset) color was painted first, then masked off and the primary color sprayed over the top of it.

Nope. Not a factory two tone (the side moldings are not original for a '78).

As most know, some trucks are two toned after they are delivered to the dealer. I could not begin to count how many trucks we added two tone to with only 50 miles on them. So it is possible the two tone was done while the truck was very young, for no other reason than the owner or dealership wanted it.

Yes - that is true.

When I say "not factory" I mean as it left Chevrolet Flint Assembly (in this case).

There is certainly no end to what could have been done at a dealership.

Re: 74 sub...20,000 miles

Single color Cheyenne package trucks do not include the lower trim . Some have them and some do not . I have seen several Cheyenne trucks that didnt and most of them do .The lower trim was added on the order form . If it is a twotoned truck ,then the lower trim is added to section it off. That is on trucks
On the Suburban above ,it does show the truck left the factory as a med blue/white truck. My guess is that the owner special ordered it that way . Remember that there was a time you could have it your way. Even if someone would have repaired a rocker pane or something ,it seems odd that they would have removed the lower trim only . I would love to have it but as a parts truck for a shortbed or crewcab.

I am still skeptical.

I saw roughly 3.5 million trucks go by during my time at Flint Assembly, and I never saw one painted like that...

(lol)

The '73 sales literature shows this style of 2 tone paint, without the lower trim, calling it "Conventional Two Tone". My first Suburban (purchased back in 1981) was this style with red over white.

So am I the only one that noticed that the original Suburban sales literature shows them with what would appear to be at least a 3/4 drop ? Its like the General always intended them to be lowered a little .
