Power steering 6 cyl.

What are you guys using for a power steering kit with the stock 6 cyl. in-line?
Is there a problem with this set up? I can't find anywhere were this was done!

The factory PS pump mounting parts weren't very common to begin with, and are almost impossible to find now. There is at least one aftermarket setup for mounting an alternator and pump on a 235, but I can't remember who sells it.

Thanks for your help Ray, I guess I'm going to have to fabricate up something!

I forgot to mention that if you are looking for stock mounting parts, look at cars, not trucks. The 6 cyl trucks with PS must be almost non-existent.

Also, 55-59 (cars, that is - I have never seen a TF with factory PS) drove the pump off the rear of the generator. A similar setup was used on V-8 cars, and looks like it would work on the 6 if you want to stay with a generator. Parts for this are available for builders doing stock restos. 60-up pumps have their own belt drive and the mounting for those would be 6 cyl specific. You would have to use the 60-up type pump if you want to run an alternator.

I am subscribing to this thread, and if I run across the aftermarket setup again I will post here or PM you. Good luck with your search.

Alan Grove company used to have these mounts - I don't know if they still carry them or not.
Vintage Air - same thing - they carried them in the past I think.
