Mine are mid-90s Dodge Caravan buckets. Those buckets you had look good in there.

Re: seats...what did you put in your truck
BTW, I don't think Ken was calling your post a bad idea, just linking some similar threads. Could be wrong, but that's my take on it.

Re: seats...what did you put in your truck
how much modifying is involved to swap seats?
|
Re: seats...what did you put in your truck
I installed the 60/40 bench from a '96 into my '85. Wasn't too bad, just had to make a frame for the seat, then weld it into place on the '85 slide mechanism. The pain was setting the front/back placement to provide legroom for me, while having adjustability for my wife. I love it, my wife loves it.
I'll add pictures when I get home. |
Re: seats...what did you put in your truck
The straight bench is pretty easy. The split bench i havnt done one of them. http://i358.photobucket.com/albums/o...15pile0001.jpg http://i358.photobucket.com/albums/o...15pile0002.jpg http://i358.photobucket.com/albums/o...15pile0006.jpg I used the stock bench track and didnt use the 91 seat track.

Back seat out of a 90 crew cab. Hardly ever been sat in, so the foam feels like new. And the price was right!

Re: seats...what did you put in your truck
I had my stock seat rebuilt and recovered for about $225, but if I had it to do over again I would get some late model 60/40 GM truck seat with integral fold down armrest. I saw a nice seat set up from a 2003 GMC for $250 at a junkyard recently, plus it had integral seat belts which I like. Those seats are much more comfortable than our stock seats, and when the driver's seat wears out you just have to rebuild/replace that one seat, not the whole bench.

That being said, I picked these up on Friday: http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z...5ipsc/Seat.jpg and got these today: http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z...seattracks.jpg Plans are to remove all the OEM hardware off of the seats and install the above slide tracks. Then I will build a rectangular frame from thick wall 1" square tubing and attach mounting tabs to bolt into the stock location on the floor. Then I can make mounting tabs to fit the new slide tracks. This way I can set the seat height right where I want it, as well as the angle front to back. |
Re: seats...what did you put in your truck
I got mine out of a '91 Suburban, and have been very happy with them.

So you use the rear seat from a crew cab or suburban and mount the seats to the floor brackets? I'm just trying to get clarification. |
Re: seats...what did you put in your truck
Not Suburbans, just crew cabs. They are the same seat, so you just swap out the slide tracks from your seat to the replacement seat.

Re: seats...what did you put in your truck
Once i get done w/ my truck i`m gonna Get these recovered, i`m using seats out of a 87 corvette. There comfortable, adjustable as i used the bucket seat floor mounts from a truck and modified the seat tracks on the corvette to mount to the factory floor holes rather then drilling new ones and using aftermarket bolts.
