Buying Advice - 82 2wd Blazer!

I need to know what this is worth.
I would love to get my hands on a two wheel drive blazer for the 80's.
This has an inline 6 & 3 speed in it, but I can swap all that out for a v8 VERY easily (says the people on this forum).
So what should I pay for this thing?

UPDATE: Forget this overpriced rat rod! Check this out (read below starting at "Holy Crap")!

UPDATE: The deal fell through. I cannot get the frame back home, and I lost my space last night to work on it. My buddy doesn't want another project at his shop. All of these parts are going to get their own sale threads ASAP. I will post the links when I do.

Holy crap! I'm making out like a bandit on this!

You guys are not going to believe this deal:

1) 79 Blazer Two Wheel Drive Frame (from Texas, so ZERO rust!)
2) with a 12 bolt rear end
3) all A-Arms & Leaf Springs attached
4) font and rear brake components intact
5) and the drive shaft...
6) 6 (repeat SIX) rally wheels, 4x 17" and 2x 18"
7) a set of brand new leaf springs
8) a nice 81-82 front bumper with guards
9) The original Title with the frame!

And all of that is going to cost me...

... drum roll please ...

:metal::metal::metal: removed... :metal::metal::metal:

Then I'm going to break down all the parts, sandblast it, POR15 all the components (frame, a-arms, etc...), and hang it in the garage until I'm done with my 78 silverado restore!

Great day in the morning!

Sorry,... if you used photobucket,... my work blocks them.
I'll look when I get home tonight.

Re: Buying Advice - 82 2wd Blazer!

No, they are on my personal blog...

See if you can access http://ellisbenus.com/wp-content/upl...nline-6-01.jpg

If not, then here is a trick I use at my work (which does the same thing): request a PDF version of a URL. Here are some services to help you with this:

http://web2pdfconvert.com/
http://pdfmyurl.com/

Copy and paste any url (like this thread's url) and it will generate a PDF for you to look at. I prefer web2pdfconvert because you don't have to download it, you can view it in Google Docs and it's VERY fast.

So go to http://web2pdfconvert.com/ and paste in the url of this thread (http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s....php?p=4086699)

Hope that help!

Ok. Try the trick I showed you and let me know.

Are you going to trade him anything? If your going to buy, you need to go look at it, take good pics and post up. just from what I see, it's about a $500 price tag or less IMO. You have no idea how it's been hacked on for the drop, and the engine, tranny seem junk (IMO). What will proabably be happening, you are going there to buy the frame, tub, and body parts. The interior is probably trashed, and you already know you need to do a driveline swap. Not to mention the wiring. But hey go look at it, and this is only 1 persons opinion.

Re: Buying Advice - 82 2wd Blazer!

I agree with your total assessment David.
I want to pull the whole drive train.
Interior is not a problem.

My biggest concern is what he did to the frame to get that ride height...

These Two Wheel Drive Blazer frames are almost impossible to find, so even if he did C-notch it, can I salvage the frame by welding back in metal to reinforce it? Or leave the C-notch and just put the factory suspension back underneath it?

HA HA HA?!?!?!

I just got an email back from the guy, get this... he wants $2,500?!?!?!

For an inline 6 with trashed tranny!

I dunna' think so!

Re: Buying Advice - 82 2wd Blazer!

yeah that's what I was afraid of. people have junk and they want a ton of money for it. Send the guy an email back and say to keep you in mind. It's going to sit there until he comes down a lot or finds the right sucker. Which I am glad you are not.

Re: Buying Advice - 82 2wd Blazer!

LOL. Thanks for the compliment David. :-)

I just found this on craigslist right after the guy emailed me back with that ridiculous amount.

This seems like a great deal. I don't think I can go wrong here.
I want 80's model sheet metal, and that should work on this frame, right?

Two Wheel K5 Frame - $250

I have a perfect frame with title for a 1979 K5 Blazer Two-Wheel drive (no body). This is a very nice rolling frame that is complete with a 12 bolt rear end and rally wheels. I had plans to turn my 1984 K5 into a two wheel drive but have decided to leave it alone. This frame with little modification will work on the 81 up models as well. I have a set of brand new leaf springs that will go with it as well as a nice 81-82 front bumper with guards.

Re: Buying Advice - 82 2wd Blazer!

umm I think it will work. If there is mods needed to be done they would have to be very small (not sure though) I would buy it for that price. worse case you get a 73-80 tub but mod the front end for 81-91 front end. it's a great price for all you get. But you should not need a title for it... but check your local laws.

Re: Buying Advice - 82 2wd Blazer!

Don't need a title? Really?

I didn't know that.

What do I do when I build the truck up and I want to license it? how do I get a title for it?

ERBSIX 07-13-2010 11:53 AM

Re: Buying Advice - 82 2wd Blazer!

Holy cow. This K5 frame is turning out to be a good deal I think.

His response to me:

Quote:

I have the title as well. It is a true 2wd frame. No modification at all. It is a rolling frame. I did use the proportioning valve.
Man, I really don't think I can go wrong here for $250!

Davidmichael 07-13-2010 11:58 AM

Re: Buying Advice - 82 2wd Blazer!

even if you don't use the frame there's $250 just in leafs and the bumper.

Re: Buying Advice - 82 2wd Blazer!

Amen!

It looks like I'm buying a frame.

Dang, I just got this bug 2 days ago to build a blazer and I've already almost got a frame. I have not even done that much to my first love (1978 Silverado 1/2 ton Restore). He says it also has rally wheels.

Of course, it's 4 hours away, so pulling a trailer 8 hours round trip might eat up those savings a bit.

Plus, frames take up like NO space. So I can sandblast it, POR15 it, overcoat it, and let it sit in the shop against a wall. :-)

Re: Buying Advice - 82 2wd Blazer!

exactly. show pics when you pick it up.

Re: Buying Advice - 82 2wd Blazer!

Awesome. Thanks David! I definitely will.

That would be a perfect (read: simple) project for me too.

I have not torn down a frame (yet - I've got another 78 silverado parts truck to do that to) so this will be a great practice one and plus, these things are really rare.

Man, gotta borrow a trailer and head south.

btw the title usually goes with the vin plate on the body here in texas. the frame vin only comes into question if there is evidence its stolen

Careful fellas.... let's not be turning this into a parts selling thread. Please keep in mind the rules of buying and selling by non-subscribing members.
