receiver hitch with drop bumper ?'s

Looking to put a receiver hitch on my pickup finally. Only problem is there isn't a hitch to fit with the bumber I have without making spacers, at least I haven't found one. Anyone have a similar setup?

These are older pictures of the bumper, it's about a 10" drop. I can get some more dimensions, hopefully this weekend.

valley and some other manufactures make recievers that bolt up to the three holes made into the bumper. with the style of bumper you have it should be plenty strong unless you are hauling massive loads.

When I used to work for a accesory shop a guy had one and wanted to use a hitch instead of the ball on the bumper. I ended up using a hidden hitch used for roll pan applications. I just had to cut a hole in the bumper and use a flip bracket for the license plate.

I know I can buy a hitch to fit the truck's frame but they're all for stock bumpers. I'm just looking to pull my 14' aluminum boat now and then and maybe if needed a car trailer. Anyone made spacers for theirs?

Just get the hitch that bolts to the bottom of the bumper. I bet that bumper is rated @ 8,000-10,000 lbs or so. We built one to bolt to my Dad's and haul cars off of it all the time.

that's the option I would go with. That way the hitch is bolted to the frame, and you will not have any worries. just fold the plate down and you are good to go.

this is a Fey 10 inch drop bumper. they don't make them any more. i wouldn't just put a reciever off the bumper, seems kinda hokey to me. mines got a 10 inch drop receiver class 5 rated mounted up to the frame, comes out nicely underneath for a nice finished look. i cant remember the brand though, the sticker was worn off when i got it. if i remember ill let you know. does that bumper have a 1 piece stainless plate on it?

draw-tite has a hitch for the 10" drop bumpers. It's kind of cool, the cross bar can be raised to work with standard height bumpers too. Check out their web site for the specific model number.

I need this bumper, any other vendors make a similar drop bumper for 73-87 trucks?

Drawtite, Hidden Hitch and Curt all make them. Check out http://www.etrailer.com.

You will also find installation instructions and drawings there.

Just checked the website, they do have the bumpers but don't have an attachment bracket for the truck. Furthest back they go is 88.

Looked though the website and didn't see any drop bumpers, I'll take another gander.

Re: receiver hitch with drop bumper ?'s

ill try to find some markings on my hitch and see what brand it is, but im sure that a bumper from a 88 pickup could fit on a 73-87 with fairly minimal work. that was my plan before i got this bumper, just to make a luverne work.

I thought you were looking for a hitch to go with your drop bumper. If that is the case they have drop down for vehicle style and choose the one for "...with Deep Drop Bumper"

I would be interested in a hitch to go with the bumper sure. Look like I'll pick up a luverne and try to retrofit the brackets.
