Side views
Is there a specific location for the OEM round side view mirrors? My truck had the large rectangular mirrors that were just screwed into the door skin. I purchased some replacements but as I look at other builds it looks as though there are several different locations for the base. most appear to be centered directly under the wing but some I have seen are forward of it, and some are slightly behind it. The mounting hardware that came with it are machine screws like there was supposed to be some sort of backer plate with nuts attached. Since mine is a C20 with the big mirrors there was nothing on the inside of the door.

I'm interested in the answer too... bump

Re: Side views
When I took my door apart there was a bracket behind the mirrors that the machine screws went into.

Re: Side views
There is a backing plate, part number 67-02006 $7.00 each from the Truck Shop. You could probably make your own. There are three holes drilled in the door, with the front centered 2 3/4" back from the front edge of the door on mine.

Re: Side views
Glad to be of some help. The very front hole on my '69 measures 2 1/2" from the front edge of the door, on both sides.

Re: Side views
GruntMoanCough: In that diagram the front hole is located .86 forward from some point labeled 15, what is this 15? All of the other measurements depend on this point.

Provided your doors are aligned correctly to these references, you could use these points. I just find it's easier measure from an existing vehicle. Like I posted above, the front hole is 2 1/2" from the front edge of the door, on both sides, on my '69. BTW, the height of this hole measures 1/2" below the body line on the passenger side and 5/8" below the body line on the driver's side. |
