Has Anyone Tried the $158 eBay Stainless Steel Headers?
Has anyone tried these headers:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/73-87...item27b1666e95 They're made by DNA Motorsports. The price seems too good to be true. I wonder how well they fit and how flat the flanges are. Ed |
Re: Has Anyone Tried the $158 eBay Stainless Steel Headers?
They sure are pretty! I agree the price is too good to be true. I need a set to fit my vortec engine. Anybody have these?
|
Re: Has Anyone Tried the $158 eBay Stainless Steel Headers?
didnt someone post a good while back that they bought a set like these on ebay and they "yellowed" really bad?
could be wrong, just seems... |
Re: Has Anyone Tried the $158 eBay Stainless Steel Headers?
They will yellow. I have tried stainless exhaust on my Motorcycle. It will polish back out but who wants to pull thier headers constantly???

Re: Has Anyone Tried the $158 eBay Stainless Steel Headers?
Those look nearly identical to the one's I have (made by wysco). I had to notch the passenger frame rail a little for clearance and they sit close to the drivers side lower control arm. They will discolor (all stainless does) but won't corrode. If it were me I'd probably go for it.....that's almost $100 cheaper than I paid for mine 3yrs ago! Helluva deal!

Re: Has Anyone Tried the $158 eBay Stainless Steel Headers?
i'd rather have a little discoloring than leaks. i mean for what kind of quality headers can you get for that price? cheapy summit brand, or the thin flanged hedmens
|
Re: Has Anyone Tried the $158 eBay Stainless Steel Headers?
I really want to buy a set of those and use header wrap.
|
Re: Has Anyone Tried the $158 eBay Stainless Steel Headers?
PS:1. This header might fits 2/4WD turck, pick up, suburban, van, suv, and 1, 1/2, 3/4 ton model.
Yea $158 is dirt cheap for a set of stainless headers, but I dont like the "might fits" part of there advertisement. And we drive trucks...not turcks! |
Re: Has Anyone Tried the $158 eBay Stainless Steel Headers?
those are speed daddy, didn't see anything about dna, which I bought from and are good.
As for the headers not sure, I got a set for my 88 some shorties and they are polished stainless just as them, first drive they turned blue. They haven't changed since, still blue. They fit great, no problems and they had thick block side flange and ball socket end to work with stock pipes as for those posted above, looks like the same flange thickness as the cheap flowtechs and summit brand headers. |
Re: Has Anyone Tried the $158 eBay Stainless Steel Headers?
i think someone should take one for the team and order a pair lol then we can get a report on 'em :gi:
|
Re: Has Anyone Tried the $158 eBay Stainless Steel Headers?
Yellowed or blued SS looks better than any of the coatings do that turn all chalky. Besides, these arent motorcycles, who polishes headers? Never heard of that cept on show cars....lol
|
Re: Has Anyone Tried the $158 eBay Stainless Steel Headers?
I agree on them being better then paint or coatings that come off, esp. the factor paint that burns off and they rust real quick.
|
Re: Has Anyone Tried the $158 eBay Stainless Steel Headers?
i have had them before, very nice, i also just put a set on a 283 in a 68 and they fit good...a little discoloring but thick flanges and great welds...

Re: Has Anyone Tried the $158 eBay Stainless Steel Headers?
slamd83c10: How was ground clearance with the $158 eBay headers? Do they hang below the frame rail?
Thx Ed |
Re: Has Anyone Tried the $158 eBay Stainless Steel Headers?
I am interested to hear more about them as well, although I normally believe that you get what you pay for.
|
Re: Has Anyone Tried the $158 eBay Stainless Steel Headers?
they hung a little below the frame, probably wouldnt want them on a bagged truck, but when i had them i was 5-7, never hit them, but they did hang just a little, about half the collector hung below frame...
|
Re: Has Anyone Tried the $158 eBay Stainless Steel Headers?
I just sent them a message, design looks like 11500 Flowtechs, hoping they measure the same, naturally I find this AFTER having stainless 3" daul exhaust put on...

Re: Has Anyone Tried the $158 eBay Stainless Steel Headers?
The flanges are pretty thick, so that would eliminate alot of the leak issues, no?
I like the way he lists our trucks in the application section then at the bottom he writes that they "might" fight our trucks???!!! hehe |
Re: Has Anyone Tried the $158 eBay Stainless Steel Headers?
I searched but never came across this thread so I ended up making my own: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=428616
But if someone else confirms that they are pretty decent and not chrome plated I might end up getting them after all. PS: Even with cheapo autozone (1/4" flanges) headers I have stopped all exhaust leaks with copper gaskets FWIW. |
Re: Has Anyone Tried the $158 eBay Stainless Steel Headers?
Bump^. I want to see if someone else has these.
|
Re: Has Anyone Tried the $158 eBay Stainless Steel Headers?
If they are done by Speed Daddy I might give them a try.
They make headers for my grand prix and tons of guys use em. Haven't really heard much bad about them for a grand prix. Its what I will use when I get some this spring |
Re: Has Anyone Tried the $158 eBay Stainless Steel Headers?
I have the eBay stainless steel headers on my '73 C-10. The flanges are THICK, the bends are smooth, and they fit. For the price, you cannot beat them.

Re: Has Anyone Tried the $158 eBay Stainless Steel Headers?
i would run them,
i always check the head flange to see how much it has warped when they built them, then have them plained or ill file them down. warpage is normaly what causes leaks |
