Will a T-5 fit under a low hump tunnel?

I'm contemplating swapping a T-5 into my '69 shortbed and currently have a 3speed. Does anyone know if the T-5 will fit under the low hump?

I just put a T-5 I my 69 Gmc. It also had a 3sp. Not sure wht a low hump tunnel is or if I have one but mine is a swb and it fit perfect. U need to shortin the DS about 2.5 in. Get a trany out of a pre 88 S-10 get an 89 astro van clutch and a step ring to make the gap up for bearing retainer beLlhouseing connection to keep it centered. Also need to shortin the input shaft pilot a .25 in and cut the bearing retainer down to wht the 3sp is. And drill out the bolt holes t .5 in then bolt it all up. Do a test fit with out the clutch to make sure all line up well.
I got a bad trans the first time around so hope u have better luck than I did but you will love the od gear and ease of driveablity it provides

Thanks for the pic 68 longbed! Makes me want to get on it right away. What kind of RPM's do you see runnin down the highway at 65 - 75 MPH?

Thanks to all for the responses! I've never seen such a great group willing to support each other when a question arises. I'll post some pic's of the shop truck soon.

Are you putting it behind a 250?

I just picked up a T5 out of a 86 Astro, so I have read most of the posts I can find on this subject. Keep us informed on how it works out.

I have a mild small block, .30 0ver, roller rockers, RVcam etc...Not worried about strength as much as needing overdrive so I can take road trips in it! I'd like to make the trip to Bonneville in August if I can get er done by then. I'll document the swap with photos and post them...that is, if it works without me developing a nervous tick in the process!

Treeboy, does your Astro T-5 have an offset shifter housing, and if yes, are you planning to keep it that way? I am wondering where the stick would come through the floor.

I had planned on removing the offset and installing a S10 shifter.
