New Drums ???
 

I need some new rear drums for my 1968 c-10, but the new drums have no hole in the front for adjusting ?? And the backing has no hole either??

NOt sure what to do , my old ones are junk.


How will i adjust with new ones with no hole and how will i ever get them off i need to ?

Adjust them as far out as you can put the drums on. bleed, test drive it around the block. You might have to remove the drums another time to adjust them once more after the brakes get what i call seated. I caution you on your new drums. Mine were made in Canada and one was out of true. After a week one got cherry red after only a block. I had to turn that drum. Sorta pissed me off to turn a new drum.

OK so what about getting the new drums off ? Lets say after a year or so don't you have to adjust them down to get the drums off, but with the new ones there is no place to do so.

i've never had an issue with that//if you feel the need you can either put an adjusting slot in the backing plate or the drum your choice

yeah, i wondered the same thing when I replaced mine a couple months ago- but I just said oh well, I'll figured that out whenever I have to take them off again, which shouldn't be any time soon...

My front drums are like that. Stupid design. I plan on pulling a drum off every 6 months and taking a peek at the shoes, just to keep on top of it.

I'd go to the junk yard and find thick ones before running those replacement part drums. They flat out suck.
If you do end up having to run them, if you only have two, but them in the back since the rear does so little to stop the truck.
I cut holes in the side of mine for adjusting, and since there was no lip for the spring that goes around the edge, I just left them off. I think I actually still have those springs laying around... it's only been 8 years or so.
