Dana 60 rear??
I bought a Dana 60 rear for only 100.00. The axle is a full posi and was said to have been from a 67-72 truck.
How can I verify this? I want to put this under my 1981 K5 Blazer. I know I will need to weld new spring perches on it to fit my Blazer but thats no big deal, I just want it to be ALL chevy.:metal::blz2: Thanks fellas in advance. Patriot :flagw: |
Re: Dana 60 rear??

Re: Dana 60 rear??
Chevy, Dodge & Ford have used Dana 60s over the years. Do you have a picture?

Note the "60" on the lower right under the boss. It's a little less than a half-inch tall.

If you pull the cover off of the Diff this is what you should see if you have a POSI. And in the glove compartment it should say option G87 POWER LOK REAR AXLE on the SPID. This is off of a 72 GMC not sure if it's the same for a Chevy.

Re: Dana 60 rear??
6 lug or 8 lug? The width may be narrower than you want, depending on which year it was made. 67-70 1/2 are narrower that the late 70 -72 in the 6 lug version. I have no idea about the width of the 8 lug version.

Re: Dana 60 rear??
i would use a 14 bolt if it were me.
they are stonger than a 60 and will bolt right into your blazer (ok 60's are pretty damn strong, but the 14bolts are just as good) |

Re: Dana 60 rear??
The chevy dana 60s have 7 bolts holding the backing plate to the housing. If it has 1/2'' studs it is a 1970 and older. If it has 9/16'' studs then it is a '71- or '72. This is assuming that it is a 3/4 ton 8 lug

Re: Dana 60 rear??
Some may have 7 bolts, most have 10. Like mine.
