Price for engines on Internet

Im wanting to do the swap(my 350 took a dump) and in looking online for motors with wire harness and ecm but no luck. Ebay is high dollar and im on a budget. Craigslist is a no go, nothing on there. Where can i find a good motor complete for cheap. A little milage is ok not more that 200,000.

Craigslist always kicks back searches for 5.3 and 6.0, etc. Try http://craiglook.com/ and see what you can find.

Check out Item #120597787453 he changed his ad and says he has 5 motors to chose from ranging from 80,000-130,000. I have been thinking real strong about putting one in my 53,can't begin to rebuild a 350 for that kind of money

Re: Price for engines on Internet

I tried it that way for a few months then got frustraded. I ended up getting my 2006 6.0 from Schram Auto. My engine is a 25k mile takeout from a wrecked truck. I got the complete engine top to bottom, front to back including exhaust manifold, computer, wiring harness, a/c comp, starter, DBW pedal, etc delivered to my place of work for $2200. Not saying that was cheap, but it is SOOO much easier than buying an engine and trying to gather all those other parts. What I liked about them is they aren't necessarily a salvage yard like a lot of the places I called. Most places didn't want to sell me an entire pullout, just engine. Schram specializes in COMPLETE TAKEOUTS. Anyway, I hope I don't sound like an infommercial, but they really impressed me with their inventory and service.

You might try some of the greensheet type little newsprint ad things in boxes all over the place. They usually have ads for local places that sell late model engines and/or trans.

Not the cheapest, but worth a phone call...

Re: Price for engines on Internet

Don't rule out a 4.8 as an option! I got mine with all accessories, 4l60e, ecm, pedal, etc., only 22k miles, for $1k. We took it through some shakedown runs this weekend and were very impressed with the power. If you are looking for a daily driver swap, something like this might work for you. Some advice though - if you are on a budget, factor in everything - every fitting and hose clamp before you start. My $1k motor ended up costing about $3k to drive...

I got mine from a local yard, 800 bucks for everyhting including the starter, alt, pcm, and harness. It has 59k on it. Check the local yards, sometimes you get lucky!

Re: Price for engines on Internet

I got mine from Specialized Parts Planet http://www.specializedpartsplanet.com/ in California. A 58,000 mile 2006 5.3L and a 4L60E from the same truck, all wiring, PCM, exhaust downpipes with O2's, radiator, DWB stuff, all accessories, etc. A complete drop-out. Everything I needed, plus stuff I didn't need, for $2200.00 shipped to Colorado.

Re: Price for engines on Internet

I didn't dare mess with the harness/ecm - I sent it off to Speartech for the flash/tune, plus my pedal ended up bad. That bill alone was more than the engine/transmission. There was just a lot of indirect parts that I ended up having to source. I think Napa was going to give me my own parking spot because I was there so much.
