Updates on Lil' Red
 

So here are some updates on my 86 that my kids call Lil' Red. I found a salvage yard about 30 minutes from my house and couldn't believe the amount of good parts that were there! I don't think that very many people know about it. I spent 4 hours picking parts for the truck. I got a rear slider window-$10 a wing window-$5, different gauge molding-free, Tail light lens-free, and a 60/40 seat out of a 97-$50. It is now a solid bench seat. Spent the weekend putting parts on. I had to match the tint on the wing window and rear slider.
I picked up some 35x12.50s on 15x10s with half tread BFGs for $300. Those alone made the truck look a lot better.
Eventually we'll get er painted but for now this $500 truck has had some major improvements.

WOW. Very good deal, looks awesome. I mounted a set of gauges in the same spot in mine.

This is what it looked like when I first got it. Other than it only had 30x9.50s on it and I had these 33x12.50s that I put on as soon as I got it. Its just my tinkering project.

The lift is a 4" rough country that I ordered from ntwonline.com. Its spring front and block rear, but I think I will get rear springs eventually. I had 33x12.50s on it but I wanted a little taller and wider. Now they're 35s on 10" wide wheels.

I love the look man. I've got a 76 shortbed that i will be lifting in the future. and seeing your truck is motivation ;)

Great deals. You really scored on the seat. I was looking for one like that for my 84. 1) they were hard to find. 2) when you did they weren't that cheap. :lol:

How hard was it to mount the seat? Much fabrication?

It took more time thinking on how to mount the seat than to just to it. I had some 2"x2" tubing running around my shop. Cut the front piece the full length of the bench and then a smaller piece for the back. Used the stock holes to mount the two pieces (had to get longer bolts) and then used the sliders off the original seat. The outer holes on the brackets lined up with the holes on the seat in the back. I had to make 1/2" spacers between the tubing and the seat holes due to the lip at the sides of the seat. It was actually pretty easy. I should have taken pics when I did it.
