Niagara Region, Ontario

Hello folks,

My name is Dave, I'm from the Niagara Region in Ontario and I just purchased a 1987 GMC V-15 4x4(Sierra) a week ago to be my daily driver. It's a bit of a frankenwagon as it has a next generation fleetside shortbox(1988+). So far I haven't gotten it on the road as I'm finding more issues as I'm fixing other ones, but I'll post about those problems in the appropriate sub-forum.

The vehicle looks to originally have been a beige/sand color but is currently fire engine red, the original engine was a 305 TBI unit from what I can tell, but from what I gather, the current powerplant is a 350 TBI unit, is there a surefire way to tell which it is? The person that sold me the vehicle claimed it to be the 5.7L and it looks like the 350 in my dad's 92 suburban.

Anyway I love the look of the vehicle and the first thing I did after purchasing it was find a GM truck forum I liked, that seemed helpful and this is the clear winner. Thank you for having me.

Dave

Welcome to the board Dave! You did find a great site for info on Chevy/GM trucks. I guess things are a little slow on the welcome front, must be an August thing. Maybe I'll see you or your truck around S.Ontario sometime........

I finally got off my arse and grabbed a fistful of silly putty to find out what kind of V8 my truck has, since I've first posted my intro a few months ago. My sneaking suspicion that the engine my truck was not the 4 bolt main 350 as advertised when I purchased it and as the PO claimed(whom I hope someday reaps what he sowed from all the horses*** that came out of his mouth) has been confirmed. My truck is 305tbi equipped. At this point I don't care which engine it has ultimately, because despite all the issues my truck had/has I still like it.

Here's a couple more pics. The box is fine for now but ultimately I'd like to replace the box with an original fleetside short box and replace the cab.
