Anyone using stock LS clutch fan?

Will the stock LS fan fit in the original truck fan shroud? Or will the motor set too far back or forward? I am waiting on headers and oil pan in order to drop mine in. Hopefully in the next few days if Doug Thorley headers show up. Just wanting to know if I need to order a new rad/fan combo.

I am using one on my 5.3, along with the truck's original shroud and radiator, and with the adapter plates I used it sits the fan perfectly in the shroud.

Ah, yes I can see. Looks good!! And cheaper than buying a new rad/fan.

I got a set of electric fans for a LS1 F-body for $50. Fits the truck radiator just about perfect.

If you are using ECE mounting hardware, I highly doubt any sort of mechanical fan would fit:

I'm using the Entropy rad/fans and ECE mounts. It is the downside to the ECE setup, but I wanted an easy to install secure setup, so it is what it is!

woah....thats the ECE kit in the intended location? I guess I'll have to get some of those offset plates then. I'm running e-fans, but wanted the motor farther back for performance reasons. 2" from the looks of that pic...though I do want to leave enough room to hide the coil packs on the back of the motor so it'll have to be far enough out for that.

It looks like the fan might go on, but be real close to the rad. very efficient cooling.

Yep, that's it --

What's the offset plate? You making them yourself?

Every time I look at it, I think about how much I'd like it back about 3-4"

I would if I had the stuff to fab them up with. I've seen others that looked similar. I even seem to remember Moroso making some? Here's a pic and link:

Re: Anyone using stock LS clutch fan?

If I would have been thinking about it from the start, I would have welded 3" of steel to the back of the upper mounting plate, drilled 2 more holes in it, and used them that way.

Not impossible for me to do at this point, but I'm not sure I have the urge to jack everything up and un-do it.

I think they'd be about perfect if you used the back holes in the front of the block, and had that extra 3" or whatever in the back.

The position of the middle plate is where mine is.

I got it in and here is what it looks like, about 1 1/8". Thinking I might have to cut the bottom out of the shroud and slide it over the top. I will try to figure it out tomorrow.
