something i just thought of here, did they make any other speedo gauges for 84's? mine goes to 85 and i would like one that looks stock but goes higher (no i do not plan on going any faster than that my truck gets hairy enough at 75) i've seen ones that go to 100 but they're all in 70's model pickups, my deal is one of those dare to be different ways of thinking, every square i see has the 85 mph speedo and i think its kind of a pessimistic reminder of how slow these trucks were from the factory and i think a hotrodded truck shouldn't have an 85 mph speedo (its probably just the teenager in me :lol: )

so are there 100 mph speedos for my year truck (1984) or are the fonts and needles different?

Not quite I don't mind the stock style guages I was just wondering if there is a gauge for sale that goes to a higher indicated speed than the one that I have does anyone sell them?

if you get a white face guage kit maybe itll have for both and just overlay yours to what you want. my dad got all sorts of different overlays when he bout his white-face kit on ebay for his 86 elky.

Face inlay kit would be a cool idea. But your speed-o would be way way off. Is it hard to put on a 100 mph stock speed-o?

I dont know where to find it now, but I saw a guy somewhere that was making STOCK looking 140MPH speedos. They Looked good too, just like factory.

well if he wasnt using 73-80 guages and overlaying them, he was doing the same thing, using ANY year guage and overlaying them, so same thing. do you know if they were calibrated speedos, or just for looks?
i had replaced the one in my truck with one from my original 73 but later took it out, it just dont look right beside the others. havent found a guage for 81-up that read over 100mph, but as i recall, someone said that they did make them i believe from the factory but they were in like c60 trucks or cab n chassy trucks or somethin like that. regardless they are pretty hard to find....
BUT i will try to find the article i had read before, someone took a gauge from another gm vehicle( i cannot remember which one), but had a speedo and some other things intergrated into one gauge, with a full size tach on the other big opening from the same car. i will check into this, it looked pretty sweet, and allowed him to have 2 free smaller holes i believe to use for guages of his choice. ill def have to go looking thru my favs and try to find this now.

i did find a pic of a canadian cluster that reads 140kph with a tach....so far, but still looking. was on the other computer years ago before it crashed, ill find it.

So what I have collected from this is that nobody is repopping 100 mph guages and even if I find one it'll never look right on my 84... Great another idea down the tubes...

hell if it were me , seriously tryna pull it off, id just find someone to make the fresh black factory overlays and do them all fresh, straight over the older 100mph speedo and your guages. theyd all match then.

anyone know if you could just use one of those speedo adjuster things to calibrate it? then you would actually be able to overlay over the 85mph one and just calibrate it out to read correctly after the overlay?
