A/C pullies vs no A/C (1987 GMC V2500)

1 Attachment(s)
I have all the accessories off the front of the engine so I could paint everything. I plan to put factory A/C on at some point from a doner and wanted to know what pulleys are different for adding A/C. The truck is a 1987 and has the alternator on the left side with air pump under it and the power steering pump on the Right side facing the front. The alternator is driven by a serpentine type belt without a tensioner. (The photo is before I painted everything)

I looked up belt part numbers for A/C vs no A/C and it looks like the Alt. and Air pump are 1" longer with A/C and the belt that runs the A/C comp. also runs the PS pump. I am not sure why the different belt lengths but if anyone knows or has a photo of a 85-87 with A/C that would help.

I suggest going to full serpentine belt. You can move the compressor to the passenger side. You can add a smog pump if necessary. Here is my setup without the smog pump option.

A car left bracket will have a smog pump option. It is also in the same stock location as your truck.

Like gchemist suggested, I'd take the opportunity if I were adding A/C and go with a full serpentine setup. Several year model cars with 305's will work, as would 89-91 suburban etc.

G van's system will work too. If you can find one pull the computer and harness. Their nice to have.

I bought a 1985 parts truck today with A/C so I should be set.

Thanks,
