MONTEZ's LSx thread......
Well where do I begin? I recently purchased a 6.0L/4L80e setup that I was planning to put in my 85 SWB. I rounded up parts for a VVT retrofit and a LY6 intake. The plan was to build the LQ4 into a LY6 clone. Just yesterday I bought a 6L80e trans and after conversing with the seller found out that the buyer for his L92 had backed out. So I'm on my way this saturday to pick up BOTH! They were both pulled from a 2010 silverdao LTZ with 1K miles on them. The owner got a deal on a LS7 and decided to swap them out. So yay for me! I just wish I had found it all before I bought the last engine....But I've already had a ton of calls on it and expect it gone before Friday.

Just sold my 6.0/4l80e setup yesterday and now that it's out of the way I am getting ready to get this L92/6L80e project going! Here are some pics of what I am picking up on saturday.

Re: MONTEZ's LSx thread......
Nice. If you don't mind telling, how much did you pay for that L92? I was wondering what the going price was on those motors compared to the iron based motors.

Re: MONTEZ's LSx thread......
Yep and I sold my 6.0/4l80 setup for $1500. Prob could have got more, but I wanted to be able to buy the l92 without having to get money out of savings, so I priced it for a fast sell.

Re: MONTEZ's LSx thread......
You would not happen to be using headers will you. Love them manifolds and i have not got a set yet just in case the headers i buy dont fit....

I just got home with them both today. To be honest I was halfway expecting to make the 5 hour drive to pick them up and not be able to find the seller or never hear from him again. Not saying I thought the guy was shady, I never got that impression, but the deal seemed to good to be true. |
Re: MONTEZ's LSx thread......
It was too good... But I'd be happy to give you your money back for it... Just sayin' :dohh:

Re: MONTEZ's LSx thread......
Going to MAST this afternoon to see what cam and spring package they recommend for the L92 and also to see if they have any of their MAST oil oans in stock.

Re: MONTEZ's LSx thread......
:metal: watching this one!!

Re: MONTEZ's LSx thread......
Well after talking to the guys at MAST last night I realized that the engine will need more changes than I had originally thought. I wasn't even thinking about it being a DOD engine, so I'm gonna have to pull the heads and valley cover and replace all the DOD parts with non DOD parts. So as of right now I am looking at, a cam, lifters, lifter buckets, valley cover, push rods and I may go ahead and do rockers while I'm in there.
He told me that they should be getting their new MAST oil pans soon. I was planning on using the LH8 pan swap set up but they didn't reccomend it, because it doesn't give a lot more clearance than the stock oil pan. Maybe an inch or two. I'll change the windage tray while I'm in there and will more than likely put in a set of ARP main studs. I'll start working there part time starting today, so it's gonna put me back a little while on starting the build, but it'll give me more time to get my parts and resources lined out before I crack it open. |
Re: MONTEZ's LSx thread......
I thought your motor was a VVT motor and not a DOD?

Re: MONTEZ's LSx thread......
I haven't seen AFM, DOD, (or whatever) on the 6.2's....just the 6.0's and down?
6.0L V-8 (L76), with aluminum block, variable valve timing and Active Fuel Management, rated at 367 hp (274 kW) and 375 lb.-ft. of torque (508 Nm)* . 6.2L V-8 (L92), with aluminum block and variable valve timing, rated at 400 hp (298 kW) and 417 lb.-ft. of torque (565 Nm)** – exclusive on GMC Sierra Denali. |
Re: MONTEZ's LSx thread......
You got me? It's from a CC 2010 Silverado LTZ. It definatley has the DOD valley cover on it though.

Re: MONTEZ's LSx thread......
BTW...got my cam in and hope to get it in soon. Then I can send that OEM cam out to you. I know your not going to use it...but its yours just the same.
