Anyone pull a vintage camper with their truck?
I'm working on a '66 C10 with my dad and am also getting ready to buy an old camper to use with my kids (the wife doesn't like camping). I was thinking it might be cool to fix up the camper and paint it in a fashion that will match my truck and take the whole shebang on the Hot Rod Power Tour with each of my kids. Anyone else do anything similar? I'd love to see some pics of 60-66 chevys pulling a vintage camper.

Here's my 66 C10:
Attachment 622823 I know its not what you were asking for , but here is pic of the original owner's son (and his friend on the right) after I loaded the short bed custo -made cab-over camper that went with the deal for $100 extra! He paid $100o for it in the early 1970s.. I took it home and we have cleaned it up inside and out and are planning a camping trip in the next few weeks! my kids can't wait! Re: Anyone pull a vintage camper with their truck?
I've been MIA for awhile. My computer died after a lightening storm, so I'm online on my wifes Droid.
All my pics are on my puter, so can't post. But we did pull a 61 scotty with my 61 short fleet "Ohio Drag City" truck, and we pulled a 63 shasta with my baresteel 53 suburban. Good times |
Re: Anyone pull a vintage camper with their truck?
Your rigs all look very nice! one word of caution tho, a buddy of mine took a sooner alumnum trailer & had it shined to a mirror finish. looked great but it reflected the sun so much you could't stand close to it.while it was parked next to thier barn it got the water hose so hot it started to burn. he was lucky the horse shoer was there & put it out otherwise the barn would have burned.

Re: Anyone pull a vintage camper with their truck?
That will be an awesome combo. Post some pics once you get the Suburban done and hooked up to the trailer.
That trailer is very nice....was it is that good of condition when you bought it? Quote:

Thanks for the compliment, I will post more pictures of the Suburban as it progresses. It is likely next springs project as other things have come along since. The trailer was in poor condition when I bought it, although lightly used. A lot of water damage. I was able to save the appliances and most of the cabinets but just about all of the other wood and floors were replaced. I painted the outside to match the Suburban. I currently pull the trailer with a 97 2wd Suburban that has a 454. The plan is to put that motor and trans in the 64 Suburban. I hope I get to it. I now also have a 1961 Shasta trailer to restore. I kind of enjoy doing something different from all of the car projects I have done over the years. Also in the works is a 1958 fiberglass boat with the big fins so I'm pretty spread out right now.
