3/4 ton BBC 4x4?

I saw this ad on Craig's tonight:

http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ra...898291536.html

I thought you couldn't get a big block in a 3/4 ton 4x4?

Truck looks pretty nice regardless...

You could get a big block in a '71 K20.... if you swap out the original engine.

That does look like a very nice truck!! Just not 100% original. :)

Looks like a nice truck. The big block was added, and the vacuum was added also. Looks like someone built what they wanted.

Would that be for just 4x4? I have a 71 4x2 with a 402 TH400...

He says that he bought it new, maybe he 'forgot' adding the bigblock and the vac gauge

I saw that one too. Notice he put un-molested in quotes. Also notice he said the truck was bought new in Washington, nothing about the owner buying it new.

By saying the drivetrain is all orginal to the truck he must mean all but the engine are original to the truck.

DAS in Roseville is a pretty well respected shop.

If I had $16,000 to spend on a truck that wasn't original I would find a rust free southwest 3/4 ton 4x4 myself, rebuild a big block myself, install it myself, upgrade the AC myself, and probably have $8000 - $9000 left over.

FWIW, I lived in Lindstrom for 10 years and still hold a position in the city there. I could pee on the town from my current house. If anybody is really serious about it and wants a board member to look it over I could be persuaded. If you google the phone number it looks like he lives next to where my daughter plays soccer.

In the 20 years I've lived in the area I've never seen this truck once.

This is a very original 'un-molested' 1971fullsize 3/4 ton four wheel drive pickup. Bought new and lived most of it's life in Washington state so has zero rust. 402BB(5K miles on custom rebuild), TBH350 Auto Trans(rblt) , A/C(just upgraded by DAS in Roseville), PS, PB, CC, Tilt wheel. Drivetrain, steering col, seats, and frame are all original to the truck and frame is not lifted. You won't find a car steering wheel or seats in this. It is all ORIGINAL which seems to be hard to find based on what I see posted out on Craigs list. Has original rare dash options which include tach and vacuum gauges along with an original dash throttle control knob. This truck is in MINT condition and drives like new!!!

Ok first...this is a very nice truck and I would not mind having this sit in my driveway. But...the following would be of concern to me if I was looking for an original stock K20...

1) BB were not a factory option for K-20's of this year.
2) BB engines have TH400 transmissions.
3) Bought new...it's like he implies that he purchased this truck new from the dealer.
4) Drivetrain is all original?
5) Dash-I am not sure a vacum guage was an option this year.

As mentioned this is a very nice truck but I question some of the statements about this truck. This is why we need to do research when we are in the market to buy.

vacum guage was only on the bigger trucks, C/40 and larger
