what would be a good automatic tranny to use behind a 283 if i"m using a shift kit.what would be capable and what years.thanks

If you're looking for an automatic, I would go with the TH350.

Unless you do NOT intend to drive any extended distance at highway speeds, I would suggest an overdrive transmission like a TH200-4R or TH700-R4.

except the one may have to modify the lip under the floorboards at the front for clearance
