Re: Models and diecast
Nice collection. You have some real good stuff there. I don't really have any good toys laying around anymore because my kids end up playing with them and trashing them.
FYI: There is a section on this site under the general discussion categories that is dedicated to our stuff in scale models. You should check it out. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/f...play.php?f=142 |
Re: Models and diecast
Thanks, maybe they should move my thread there. Were is it listed? I can not find it other than the link above.

Re: Models and diecast
Nice collection. I like that 37 Chevy truck.
|
Re: Models and diecast
I prefer 50s trucks, but I do like that 37. I also like the 37 GMC next to it. For a Danbury Mint collector the 37 and 41 GMCs are hard to come by.

Re: Models and diecast
What a fantastic collection you have. I'm curious, on the lower shelf in the last two photos, are those regular 1/25 scale models you built to look like that, or are they plaster or something different?
Also, fyi it's been my experience you can post up to 10 photos at a time in a thread on this website. If you have more than that just continue posting in chunks of 10. Re: Models and diecast
The yellow and blue GMCs are made of wood. I found them at an antique show about fifteen years ago. The blue and green Chevys and made of clay. I made them in a ceramics class in high school. The pink one my wife bought and is made of some kind of ceramic.

It also appears that you have several hard to find dealer promotionals too. The way you have them displayed with the background and related items finishes them off nicely. I don't have a truck collection at all but I build a model or customize diecasts for friends now and then. I also build some HO or 1/64 - 1/87 scale slot car bodies, some from scratch some from existing occasionally. Not a truck from our eras but this is a current project I am working on as a gift for a friend. I was on his pit crew at the local dirt track for 17 seasons. This truck was from 1997. First is the actual truck in 1997 then a couple of shots as I am building the diecast. The last pic is a fleet of HO scale GMC 18 wheelers I lettered for a local slot car club last spring. Re: Models and diecast
Nice collection
What do you have for 58/59 GMC trucks? |
Re: Models and diecast
In the second set of pictures there is a 58 GMC diecast promo (very rare) and a new 58 GMC tanker truck. Also hand made a grill to fit a Molehaus 58 Chevy resin kit. Still need to make a hood emblem. The dash, fender emblems, hub caps and bumper guards came from a Shawn Carpenter 57 GMC coversion kit. The tailgate lettering came from a 60s GMC Modilhaus conversion kit.

Re: Models and diecast
WOW! that 72 is slamed.
The grill on my 58 GMC is made out of a piece of body filler that I carved, filled and sanded. It took a lot of time to make. If I knew how to make molds and pore resin I could make more. |
Re: Models and diecast
very nice!!! thanks for sharing..

Re: Models and diecast
If you like Mr GMC I could make you a mold of your grill for you. Just pay for shipping and material.

Re: Models and diecast
To Mr GMC.
I dont do chrome plating, but chrometechusa.com does and they specialize in model kits and slotcars. I dont mind recasting parts. People recast mine all the time and so many of the parts on ebay are recast of from someone else anyway. I would rather the parts stay available for everone else to enjoy than to be lost because someone decided to stop casting them. I would say about $30 in the mold material, shipping parts and the mold back to you about $10. Now did you want the mold to cast your self or just extra parts? If you just want the parts I wont charge you anything for them. |
