Try a search on this, There was a board vendor (I don't remember who) that was checking into having some made. I had posted a few pics of my nos 74 grille/emblem for him....

I looked all over for one for my 73' grill. I ended up making one out of aluminum and painting it Chevy Orange.

Does anyone know if a 77-79 bowtie will by any chance fit on the 73/74 grilles?

If they're not in production, as you say, I don't think you're going to find a factory produced one unless you go to a junkyard. All I was doing was offering an alternative,

I read your post before the edit. Wasn't trying to give you a hard time, just didn't want BigRed76 to jump on it and be disappointed. The 73-74 emblems are made of a foil type material and are not available from GM. It doesn't appear the aftermarket has stepped up to make any of them either. BigBlock73 would be the expert on this.

Honestly I don't know if the demand would warrant a supplier manufacturing any of them.

Again, I'm not a basher/attacker on this forum and have nearly 1000 posts to prove it. Sorry if i came across that way.

I haven't had any luck finding a bowtie with the same dimensions as the 73-74.....

I have checked and do not believe these to be in production at all. At the end of my body work/ paint job, I will be attempting to create a new emblem to fit correctly. When I do, I will post photos.

Re: Bowtie for a '74 Grille

Nope, not reproduced, or avail from GM. As stated above, they are a foil/thin alum sticker basically, not an "emblem" per say.

Re: Bowtie for a '74 Grille

I wonder if some very thin aluminum, (like used by trophy shops for engraving) could be cut on a water jet machine? The cuts would be very clean and the emblem could be glued to the grill opening.

That's what i thought but wasn't sure. Aren't the 75 and up bowties the bolt on kind?

Unfortunately, no, dimensions are not all the same for 73-79.

BTW, what is a water jet machine?
