I have a Harwood hod on my 1984 truck. It took some slight trimming to fit it, but it fits real well and I have had it on the truck for several years. I believe Harwood has upgraded their undersides quite a bit, sine I bought mine, but I like the fit and finish of the outer surface and it is real light.

Re: Fiberglass bolt-on hood?
Watch out buying some of these F/G hoods. I don't know how many times we have dealt with customers who went with a real low priced source and brought them to us to paint and install. We had to show them all the flaws and issues that they can have. Not going into brand names but buy from a reputable company and ask their return policy if not satisfied. When or if you purchase one run your hand over every SQ inch of it looking for hidden holes that the gelcoat may cover etc. its amazing what you may find. Some are large at times. ANy shop can fix it but that adds to the cost of the hood. Cheap is not always the way to go on F/g. yes a quality F/G hood usually weighs more than a comparable steel hood.

I bought another one from a competitor that claimed to be the best of the best. It was better, but not a lot. Buyer beware when it comes to aftermarket F/G parts. |
Re: Fiberglass bolt-on hood?
My buddy has a harwood show series on his nova , did take a little trimming but otherwise an awesome hood , just as smooth underneath as the top is

Re: Fiberglass bolt-on hood?
I know of some that are listed in the trucking magazines that are not very well Quality Controlled during manufacture. I have seen body shops try their best to fit them. It is expensive to have to pay for someone to try to remanufacture something that you paid good money for to fit. I would not be scared of the brand that the initial post asked about. My Harwood is solid and fits well.

Re: Fiberglass bolt-on hood?
It definately is I have their 4 inch bolt on show series for my 85 monte carlo and love it. Only thing I had to do was file the side edges down, they make them long to protect the sides during shipping and were about 3/4 or 1/2 long and I had to trim them down so the hood would sit flat and not hit those edges. it lined up perfectly with bolt holes and latch. It's been there for over 3 years now and still looks the same no change, I even had it off switching motors and put it back on no changes, no cracked paint or anything. it's also alot lighter then any steel hood.
