Someone please help me get started....
 

I have gotten the itch to start working on my truck and I want to start with the drop. I have a 72 Cheyenne Long bed, with all stock suspension. Ive been trying to find a semi painless kit but I am finding out that in order to achieve the drop I am looking for, I am going to need suspension, spindles and c notch. I want around a 5.5/6" drop, but eventually I want to add some 18s and 20s so I know clearance will be an issue. Besides a little tinkering here and there, I am relatively new to this type of customization so I apologize if I sound like an idiot. Any tips, tricks or information will be greatly appreciated. Just point me in the right direction, that's all I'm asking.

Check out the suspension forum.Read everything you can.I would guess though I'm not sure that you would have to do some fenderwell trimming to run the tires/wheels with that much drop.Also be sure to rebuild everything as you modify it.New ball joints,bushings and such will make for a much better outcome.

Consider keeping your truck as a truck and get a Camaro or something. If you "drop" that truck you are going to sacrifice ride quality and load capacity, then you're going to have to cunny roll speedbumps and dips.

I went with a mild notch and air ride in the rear. Im running 22's all the way around. I love the ride quality. I installed the air ride tech trailing arm kit and it was pretty simple and im no pro.

You shouldn't need a c-notch with a 6" drop. I got my stuff from Early Classics.

My blazer is dropped 6/7 and a cpp bolt-in c-notch.
20's in the front and 22's in the rear, with low profile tires.
It does not bottom out, and I don't have angle speed bumps.
And I love the ride. Just make sure that when you buy rubber it is rated for a truck and not a car.

For a 6" rear drop you really are going to want to get a notch. A simple bolt in notch isn't a big deal at all. Mine is dropped 3/5 and it's the lowest I would go with out a notch. Get some good, stiff shocks to start with and see if bottoming out is an issue. I'm running the doestch tech shocks I got for $45 a pop from sporttruckdirect.com and they handle awesome. As for the front, you're going to need more than springs to get down more than about 3". It's your choice between control arms or spindles, most going with spindles. I second going with earlyclassic.com, I wish I woulda gone with their 4/6 deluxe kit but live and learn. With all that being said, with quality parts, shocks, and the right wheel/tire combo a lowered truck can ride and handle a whole lot better than stock. Good luck!

if not used to dropped truck i'd suggest you check and look at as many as possible in person and try to get yourself a ride or two in a few to make sure that is what you r looking to get
