hey gents,
follow this link and such. i have on in the garage one at the hangar and gave a few for teachers as gifts.

this is just the easiest link i found for them i do believe they are cheaper elsewhere.

a cheap dial caliper from Harbor Freight works well too ... plus you can use it for a multitude of other measuring needs.

a good idea but i think most guys would rather wait an hour or two online and post"what size do i need" and have somebody do the work for them:devil:

usually if i have a sample bolt/nut i'll just go to the hardware store/napa and search through the drawers until i find what i need, but i've used my digital calipers for a lot of stuff though.

That is a handy setup. I've used the one at the hardware store a few times. However, that system is not fool proof.

There are a few SAE threads that are so close to a metric size that they will swap. The strength of the bond will be not be 100%, and you might get away with it, but you might not.

That is why I prefer calipers and thread gauges. You can be exact.
